*scam alert* thread

Got a call at home this morning, I was sleeping so I let it go to the answering machine.

Guy named Stacey says he's calling from Greyhound "Carrier" (not courier) Service in Texas. He did not say anything similar to "this message is for xxxx", just says "This is with regard to account 421788. There are several outstanding invoices yet to be paid. If you do not call back today it will go to collections. Please call back at 214-849-8113" (This was the actual number on call display)

Obvious scam that I thought would be good for people to know about. Googled the number, no reputable company results.

Now the question is, how would you handle this situation? Call the cops right away or leave it? I have received calls from this person (or company) a couple other times in the past 3 months or so, but this is the first time they've left a message. So it does make me wonder if there is SOME truth to it, but that they have the wrong person.

Thoughts?

have you received anything or sent anything via greyhound to the US?

If you have, look up the actual greyhound US number and call them...
If you did not, then leave be

Have you tried calling the number? A quick Google shows that 214-849-8000 is Greyhound's number. 8113 could be legit as it looks like it could be one of their extensions

I have received calls similar to this in the past, they would call every few days and i would never answer because I would be at work. I looked them up and it seems they were an actual company with very shady business. Eventually they stopped calling after a few months.
