Garage-based tire hanging

so i'd like to do a quick and easy/cheap project where i install these metal shaped brackets to studs and hang tires on them. i need to do it on each side of the wall to accomodate a few sets of tires i have.

anyways, would like to know best place to buy this stuff.. i got a stud finder already so just need the brackets/screws/fasteners..

for now, just hanging tires without rims but eventually will do tire/rim on the brackets.

here's some pix to give you an idea:

First hook type brackets are similar to bike hanging brackets. Any home depot should have them.
Just make sure they can withhold the weight

You might also weigh the individual tires and put up peg boards as scruff guards.. 18" + tires are quite heavy.. and can scuff up the walls pretty good.

DONE. hanging my stock 17" 235/45 Michelin MXM4 tires.

total cost:
$16 for 4 hooks that are rated at 25lbs
$40 for stud sensor

^ Just a suggestion...you mentioned you will be doing rims/tires in the future.
The hooks, rated at 25lbs isn't gonna be enough.

OK..finally got around to getting higher rated wall hooks for rim/tire combo.. found them at cdn tire at $15ea rated up to 75lbs.

Hopefully they hold up.. obviously installed into studs.

That's cool, I should do that with my tires so my dad doesn't bitch about having tires sitting around taking up space.

hmm wonder how the drywall would hold up to that weight.........i want to do that as well but not sure if the drywall can handle it

drywall won't be impacted at all because you HAVE to you mount them to studs...if you even try mounting one that's not to a stud it will rip right off the wall

I really want to pop a few of those on my garage wall; just afraid of installing it wrong and having my rims fall.

Measure twice, drill once, parm. I say just go for it. I like that style wheel storage. Make sure you use lag bolts too as deck screws won't cut it.

lol...I remember when I wall mounted my 60" (extending/tilt mount), just to make sure it would hold, I got my GF to hang off it fully extended.
