Yogarajah and Sham, a student and photographer, were involved in the collision last Thursday. Sham had recently installed a dash camera and recorded Yogarajah’s black Honda Acura rolling backwards and bumping his Subaru.

You reap what you sow.
I can't believe that news report.
Does no one:
a) Know how to drive?
b) Know how to drive stick?

First, he was rolling back for a good long time. It's retarded to think that someone would hear a horn from DIRECTLY BEHIND them, and not go, oh what the hell is going on. Second, you'd have to be even more retarded to not notice your car rolling back for that amount of distance. Third, you do NOT roll back on a fucking flat stretch of road.

To quote Will Ferrell, "I feel like I'm taking crazy pills".

optiblue 02-19-2012 01:34 AM

Death threats might be excessive, but that guy looks like he changed his story only after he got caught. Dash cams FTW!

DurhamRegion Article: Ajax man charged with fraud following fender-bender caught on video

Quote:

TORONTO -- An Ajax man has been charged with fraud after police investigated a fender-bender caught on camera last month.
The investigation was sparked following an incident on Feb. 9 on Hwy. 401 in Toronto. Ajax resident Ragurub Yogarajah and Mississauga resident Herman Sham were in stop-and-go rush-hour traffic at around 4:20 p.m. when their vehicles bumped, police said.

The incident was captured on a dashboard camera and shown on YouTube for the world to see, including police, revealing Mr. Yogarajah's black Honda Acura rolled back and bumped Mr. Sham's Subaru.

"That doesn't happen," Ontario Provincial Police Sergeant Dave Woodford told the News Advertiser. "You get two different stories, is usually what happens. And I guess it surprised the gentleman that it was recorded."

Mr. Sham, 24, a photography student, had recorded the fender-bender on his car's dashboard camera and uploaded the video to YouTube, calling it "The reason why you need a dash camera (scam foiled)." In the video, he added bubble captions alleging Mr. Yogarajah demanded $500 on the spot to pay for the damage.

"Please be aware of these fake accident(s)," Mr. Sham wrote online.

a bit more from the article posted above

Quote:

Mr. Yogarajah became frustrated at the scene, he told the Toronto Star at the time, because Mr. Sham insisted he had reversed on purpose. So Mr. Yogarajah called police himself.

Mr. Yogarajah told the Toronto Star it was a genuine mistake and said he was worried for his family's safety since YouTube commenters started posting his personal information online.

"I work two jobs," he said. "I don't need to go scamming for $500 to live my life."

On March 2, OPP charged Ragurub Yogarajah of Ajax with fraud over $5,000, public mischief and attempted fraud. Sgt. Woodford said the fraud charge resulted from an insurance claim being made after the incident.

"The public mischief is he reported it to the police differently than what actually occurred," said Sgt. Woodford.

Mr. Yogarajah was released on a promise to appear for a court date in Toronto.
looks like he finally got what he deserved!

nice, 1 scammer off the roads.. i wonder what his previous accident claim records were though... probably getting rear ended? lol

Presto 03-07-2012 01:12 PM

Hopefully, it'll be more than just 1 scammer that goes down because of this. From what the RFD detectives have figure out, it looks like some contact info of Ragu was tied to a rehab clinic run by his parents. There's a whole bunch of people in on this scheme.

that journalism professor should get her meds restocked and recycle (if any) awards handed to her if she thinks getting caught for doing something wrong is none of any ones business.
