UBC VPN on iOS and Android Setup [HELP]

Anyone knows how to setup UBC VPN on iOS (ipod in this case) and android devices? I tried to search it and cannot find anything.

iPod:
Basically it's in the setting>general>network>VPN>Add VPN Configuration

Then I need those information to be populated. Anyone can share what they are?

Thanks

iOS is via the autoconnect site, by visiting autoconnect.it.ubc.ca
Android is only available if your Android device is rooted. Once rooted, you can install Cisco AnyConnect from the Android App Store. Note that there is no documentations or support for myVPN on Android so you are on your own.

Thanks everyone...

My iPod now connected to UBC VPN with the method that rageguy mentioned.

With android Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, I downloaded Samsung Anyconnect by Cisco and simple setup with UBC VPN. Voalaa... It connects. Awesome...

Oh yes. Samsung got lucky where Cisco actually made something. For everyone else though, there is no such luxury.

I have rooted my SE SK7i from rogers using .bat version and have superuser app in my phone but the "rooted anyconnect" app still does not work in my device. any idea why?

It really depends on what error you are getting. If you have the log file, great. If not, here is what I did for my old Acer tablet. Cicso AnyConnect for Rooted Devices

I donwloaded the tun.ko from the forum that you suggest (create a new account to download it), then go to data folder in my phone and create local folder and kernel_module folder then paste tun.ko there.

I saw that i have to run it using terminal app. Is that an app built in the device or I have to download in the market? I cannot find the terminal app in my phone if it should be built in.

You have to find a terminal app in the Market. There are lots out there. Please note that you may have to find a tun.ko that works with your hardware. I don't know much about that so you'll have to search around.

sorry for threadjacking..this is a bit off topic but is VPN available for alumni or is there a fee involved? I know interchange e-mail costs $ after you grad.

GomGom 02-22-2012 03:30 PM

VPN is free so far and I am an alumni. I'll try to do run the terminal later then... Thanks bud..

Basically I typed sdcard/data/local/kernel_modules/tun.ko and it says permission denied. What's wrong with it? A wrong tun.ko file?

Not to bump an old thread but I searched Ubc VPN iPhone and it resulted
In this thread. I'm not even a grad of Ubc. And i last went there 5 years ago and I still have access to my VPN. The method mentioned works as of this date. I'm in china. The VPN works and I can get fb access.
