Loose Brake Pedal from Side to Side? Just now, I notice that my brake pedal is quite loose and rocks from side to side. I am not talking about the situation where I apply pressure on brakes, I am talking about the brake pedal lever itself inside the car regardless of putting pressure on the brakes or not. My gas pedal is solid, it doesn't move from side to side. Is this even normal? What if my brake lever one day decides to just snap off? :heckno: The vehicle is no longer under warranty. Should I go back to the stealership or where would you recommend? btw, it's a 2006 Matrix. |
Could be as simple as a loose bolt, just grab a flashlight and take a look up there. |
wait till it falls off :troll: |
most brake pedals have some movement side to side... but if you have any concerns, have a professional or someone more mechanically inclined look at it.. could be a loose bolt, could be worn bushings... neither of which are a terribly difficult job to do... |
Some pedals have bearings. My M3 clutch pedal has bearings that are known to wear. Get under there with a flash light and check. |
So I had an opportunity to take a video of the loose brake levers. This should make things more clear. |
take a look to make sure the bracket is not broke or a bolt is worn out.... Something is wrong an it should not have nowhere close to that much play... |
Follow the brake pedal arm up to the mount and try and see what's loose up there. |
