Shaw Digital Box So my dad just called me and told me apparently tomorrow most of the channels after basic cables will be moved and can't be seen without this "digital box" Shaw sent. Does anybody know about this? I think a few months back we received a little black box, but it was way before I started hearing about this new digital conversion thing. Will they be charging us extra if we hook up the new box? |
i doubt they can charge you extra for their own system changes |
They might not want to send him a new box if they already have and he just "lost" it... but when I upgraded my service, one of the offers was a free HD box or two free SD boxes, you might want to just tell them you have a second TV and ask about getting a second box... If your dad has a newer TV that does HD though, definitely ask for the HD box - the basic package includes a bunch of HD channels at no extra cost, so might as well take advantage of it. |
I heard they'd give you a free box lol, shouldn't be charged anymore then what you're already paying unless you add on more channels |
go buy the 500GB HD PVR @ London Drugs for $200 |

I've noticed the messages on spike(32) and CNN(33) saying that you will need a digital box in order to view this channel...first they took away channel 38, then Speed(55) and now this...:rukidding: |
Well, it is just like in the USA when they were phasing it out and getting everyone to purchase a digital TV box. |
Where can you buy a cheap digital box besides shaw? I got a few tvs around the house. Posted via RS Mobile |
^craigslist from ppl switching to telus |
Anyone have any idea if they're still handing out free HD boxes? |
I've been getting the same msg from Shaw saying the channels will be replaced at sometime. But I have 5 tv's in the house that needs a digital box. Anyone know where I can pick one up for cheap? Thx!!!! |
thrift stores/places like Value Village. Shouldn't cost more than $10 for a used digital shaw box. |
-two areas of surrey are going through network upgrades. -no free hd boxes given out currently - 2.95 rental each. should get 1 free. you might even be able to convince getting another free |
We're all HD boxes here now... I have two or three SD boxes (older standard Motorola boxes) if anyone wants them, just come pick them up in Pitt Meadows. |
Hey do you guys know if this HD receiver will work with shaw's digital cable? or does it only work as a satellite HD reciever. sorry im kinda noob at this HD stuff http://vancouver.misermcgee.com/deals/214966/$169-for-a-Shaw-Direct-Grab-Go-Satellite-TV-Package-Offer-Including-Two-HD-Receivers-a-Professionall |
I just asked and they gave me a standard box for free. Using it for TV in kitchen. |
can anyone point me to where it says that a household with HD channels qualify for 1 FREE HD box rental? I feel that all affected by this change should take it on TWITTER to @SHAW. This is ridiculous that users have to pay $2.95 or $80(buy out) to watch tv (already $50 package). This is a pure cash grab on shaw's part! here is my tweet: @ShawInfo tell me y I have to pay extra $3.95/mo for digital box when #SHAW is upgrding netwrk? #cashgrab #paymoresameservice #givebox4free |
I've had enough with Shaw, let alone their reps who aren't helpful at all. And oh, that's after I had to wait on the phone for half an hour EVERY SINGLE TIME I CALLED.. minimum.. switched to Telus :fuckyea: Did I mention I had to pay for cancellation with Shaw after 5 days of (some kind of) service? :heckno: |
Thanks for the box, Soundy! |
