Moved. Don't do it again. :p |
Since the off topic and auto chat have swapped position, I constantly hit the wrong one. |

good read maybe I'm just naive, but I personally would never think of something like this happening in the army that claims to be the most strategically and technologically advanced in the world. Then again, I was never in the military, so I'd have no clue. |
the guy who suicided and now this... |

This is a huge generalization, but it seems like the vast majority of people who enlist in the army either come from a family of servicemen, are easily brainwashed, and/or lack general intelligence/ethical standards. I come to this conclusion based on how us guys are and you'll probably have a friend who would say "I would do her" after checking out a hot girl. Hell, I'm sure a large majority of us have thought that in our minds or saying it out loud after checking out an attractive girl. The environment of the military combined with the stereotypical jarhead-brainwashed-American soldier bridges the gap between the thought of wanting to have sex with the girl to performing the act with or without her consent. Essentially, a mammal lacking in intelligence or control of himself - degrade in evolution sadly. Rape is essentially everywhere, even in areas of Vancouver (for example, yet still very true) that you think are safe. The thing is, it isn't taken very seriously and you'll hear that word being used in various contexts freely. It's quite disappointing that a lot of people disregard rape as a serious matter. |
It's a shame that it is now 2012 and things like this still happen. A lot of places that are male dominated have this or similar to this type of problem. Female firefighters all off the job |
Rape is horrible, but is anyone surprised? There will be people in this thread who scream that abuse of women and rape should not be tolerated. Yet, they may be the same people who are laughing and thanking the meme comics in the "fucked up shit what makes you laugh" thread that say women shouldn't be out of the kitchen and watching a japnese girl get raped by an octopus is good times. Yes, it is a shame, yet there are jokes about rape and abuse of women everyday and there is not outcry to put an end to those. These jokes just continue to promote the negative attitudes towards women,we all laugh and the abuse continues, but at the end of the day... we all forget that we all have a mother. :suspicious: |
i don't know which is more disturbing... the fact that the guy seemed to have a technique and routine down pat for the act over the rail...and that the guy is married to boot... or... that the victim's officer who is female immediately called a stranger a slut after confessing to being assaulted because the guy has a wife so he's obviously incapable of committing a sex crime :fulloffuck: |
Disgusting. Feeling helpless is one of the worst feelings in the world. |
I wonder what the number is for rape in militarys who don't allow women to serve in the combat arms? |
This reminds me of the movie "The General's Daughter" |

no matter how professional an army is, when you have a lot of guys in a high stress environment with a ton of testosterone then these sort of things are going to happen. |
