WTB: Newbie-friendly DSLR Camera Kit
 

After attending the Granville Island RS photoshoot meet tonight and seeing all the photos being taken, I want to upgrade from my 6 year old point and shoot 5.2MP digital camera (which I wanted to throw in the water since it's a POS and had a dead battery).

Basically I'm looking for a basic kit. Camera body, case, maybe a couple of lenses. Nothing too fancy and since I'm starting out, I'm trying to keep my budget around $300-$400.

Hopefully someone can point me to a decent starter kit, or has something they started out with and are ready to pass on.
