gaming laptops: reviews/recommendations? I'm looking for a gaming laptop, preferably 15.6", but I'm out of date with all of the technology.. Is there a big difference between the GTX560M vs 570 or 580? Is one card a better bang for your buck? Between Asus, MSI and others, do some have a crappy reputation? Do many new games depend more on RAM/CPU than GPU? Right now, I really only plan on playing SC2 and D3, but I would also like to futureproof myself, if the cost is reasonable.. Any advice is welcome.. thnx |
GTX580 is the best right now I think...... I used an Asus gamming laptop before and is great! The screen looks good, graphics is great keyboards feels soild. I alos had a chance with alienwear as well. Not as powerful as the Asus I think but the keyboard feels a lot better (is rubbery which is nice). Also the whole laptop have this rubbery feel to it so is doesn't stratch as much. |
If you're getting a gaming laptop, get the best graphics card you can afford. Graphics card upgrades are often not possible in laptops and, in the rare cases where they are, they're usually prohibitively expensive. |
If you want a laptop where you can upgrade the graphics card, consider getting a Sager laptop. If you want an asus, consider the G53; although I hear they are coming out with a new version for the G53, called G54, in april Posted via RS Mobile |
I have the MSI GT780dxr w/ 16gb ram and GTX570 overclocked. EASILY the best bang for your buck gaming rig....i chew up BF3 on ultra....no problems.. i recommend the MSI GT683 or the older GT680...both can be found with many customizable options (i.e. ram, hdd, ssd, GTX570//580) Next best bang for your buck is the ASUS G-series...but i personally like what MSI has to offer and they are roughly the same price if you have huge pockets get sager |
oh ya...and people are swapping nvidia and ati cards in their MSI's...at least in the GT780/783...so it is possible to upgrade cards\ my overclocked gtx570 chomps on 580's....even midly clocked 580's another thing you should look at is glossy, matte, or hybrid screens... i used only glossy for my whole life, and switched to matte for the MSI, and i absolutely frickin love it! you should look into the 17" MSI's, as they are pretty awesome, as well, with the steel series backlit key board....and hands down the best audio system in any laptop out there....IT HAS A DAMN SUBWOOFER!>! side note: the cooling system in the ASUS is ballin.....but the Cooler boost in the MSI puts it right up there with ASUS like i said....best bang for your buck gaming laptops out there |
