Hey everyone,
I need some help... I'm unsure if this is a scam or not. I'm just trying to be cautious as I believe majority of these sort of deals are scams. I'm very suspicious of this buyer, but I need to sell my struts asap...

here is the email I received.

"Sending the struts through fedex will not be secure and i also considered your own concern about been safe and secure i think it will be much better if you can arrange someone else to meet the pickup agent after the payment has been made. send me your paypal email address so that i can make payment for you and also let me know the address of a place where you choose to the the pick up agent for pick up."

Thanks.

Since we're on this topic of CL scamming, if you do meet locally, and the item is worth more that a $100,
Better to meet at a public place, like a mall during the day.

Not to say if it's less than that, you should ever meet in a back alley or something.
But if it's less than $100, I'm comfortable meeting at some guys house.

Thanks for the help everyone. I assumed as much. I told the person that the deal is off.

no, what you should do is make him jump through some hoops then tell him he got trolled.

Chances are, he's gna send you a fake "paypal" email message saying the payment has been made BUT it is locked until you ship the item or something stupid like that. The email address will have something like spoof@paypal.com or smth. anyway, this sounds fishy. you can play along tho, give him your paypal email address and see what he does. It won't hurt. Just remember to have your money FIRST before doing anything. Simple as that.

Bad advice. As I said earlier, even if it is a legit PayPal account and you get the money in your account first, if the guy decided to file a claim and say they never got the item, you're out of luck because you have no proof you gave him the item.

How do you get a tracking number if someone is picking the item up in person?

+1

As soon as you start writing a thread to find out if it's a scam.....it's no longer worth it.

carigslist is only safe when it's a face to face transaction. Otherwise... peace!!! I have gotten so many of those stupid e-mails for when I was selling my phone. Some BS about they being a marine oversea and needed my phone as a gift for his wife, or he was terminally ill and need me to ship it to his home or some BS.

Yesterday my GF found a house for rent in squamish that seemed too good to be true, and upon punching the phone number into google as i told her to, it's a huge scam apperently.

Never thought that would happen here. She actually went to the house to see it, and talked to the very upset new owner of the house. apperently a ton of people show up to see a 3 bedroom houses with utilities for $800 haha

The last couple things ive posted on craigslist have had multiple replies like that one, sometimes even after telling them to F off, i recieved more from different email addys but with the exact same text. Definately not trustworthy.
