HOW TO Take this off?

After having a "shark style" plastic antenna for 3 years,

i decided to de-rice my car.

i used a heat gun to remove the antenna beacuse i knew it was attached on my roof with strong 3m tape.

now i have residue on my roof looks disgusting.:heckno:

anyone know how to remove this residue (still sticky) without damaging my paint?

i tried to heat it up and remove it but didnt work.

*CF wrapping my roof is NOT an option

Only apply "Goo Gone" at the very last resort.. because it has methyl ether which can eat at the clearcoat/paint.

Baby oil and damp rag maybe???

You could try alcohol rub, not too sure how damaging that is compared to goo gone though

Alcohol is very commonly used by detailers to remove adhesives like that. The thing to remember is it will remove everything up to your clear coat - specifically waxes, so after you use alcohol to remove the adhesive, you need to re-wax that section to protect the paint.

^ very true.

I used wax and grease remover (a mild solvent) to remove my old stuck on tape. I let a damp rag with solvent sit on it for about a minute then carefully scraped it with an old bank card.

Safest product is AG Intensive tar remover but Goo Gone or any adhesive remover will work. Let it soak for 30 seconds - a minute and gently rub with a MF or use a cc to remove. Rewax area as noted above.

solvent

I know it feels impossible, but heat and rubbing it with a 100% lint free cotton cloth will make the adhesive stick onto the cloth. I did that with my debadging project. Didn't need alc, googone or anything. It will take elbow grease though =p

Strange as it sounds... Roll some duct tape around your fingers, sticky side out, and dab at it. It's what I've always done for my factory stickers.

AG Intensive tar remover or Tardis
