im not sure if it was fake or what, but i would asume so considering half the bottle froze, tasted like goose still

the guy i bought the bottles off i'm asuming had the trucker duty free hookup or somthing because he was selling 40's of crown, goose, smirnoff, etc. all 1L's for $25-30

Yah i been hearing about all these and actually bought crown before. I heard about the goose and seemed too good to be true. I've also bought flats of heineken before and they were legit from what i could tell.

Does the quality of vodka matter if the intent is to mix it in drinks like OJ or Cran? I don't usually drink vodka so I'm curious

yes you can taste the quality of the vodka, something like goose and OJ its really smooth when you do taste it but it blends really good with the juice when with crappy vodka you get a real crappy after taste and it doesnt go down as smooth.

Haven t you had vodka before? its the same with most all booze.

thanks for the feedback. i've only really tried smirnoff so i haven't had anything really 'better or worse' to compare it to.

actually i ordered some martinis at a restaurant before and it tasted great but i didn't take note what kind of vodka was used. i guess it must have been something good?

i usually drink captain morgan's spiced rum & ginger ale and captain morgan's is the only spiced rum that i know of. been switching over to vodka because i'd rather mix juice than pop.

:heckno: It defeats the purpose comparing alcohol is you chase it. I roll my eyes going to parties with grey goose and watch people quickly chase it down afterwards.

Grey goose is smoother than most vodka but the price difference is not justifiable and it takes lots of drinking and experience to notice differences between alcohol

For the 25 and under crowd who's main purpose is to get shitfaced...buying the normal vodka is the same thing. Leave the expensive liquor for our dads who drinks it straight.

murd0c 03-10-2012 04:36 PM

get a bottle of Grey Goose and it will blow you away then and thats not even the top vodka anymore.

If it was a proper Martini, it would have been Gin instead of Vodka. Unless you specifically ordered a "Vodka Martini"

Hondaracer 03-10-2012 05:48 PM

^ thanks tips

I tried the higher end absolut I had never seen before at the liquor
Store yesterday it was quite good, same price point as goose

Grey Goose is quite cheap if you purchase it while on an Air Canada flight. Almost 50% the retail price at the LDB.

CorneringArtist 03-10-2012 06:51 PM

Grey Goose is mostly marketing hype although it is smooth from what I hear (don't really want to fork out to try it when Stoli is cheaper). However, Stolichnaya seems to rate rather high in a lot of reviews, and is cheaper than Goose.

Just ask for a dry martini. If they give you vodka, send it back and tell them it's not what you ordered. If they ask if you want vodka or gin, roll your eyes and repeat your order :)

A proper bar will know what to give you.. places like Earls or whatever might not

boatcaptain 03-10-2012 09:37 PM

i jus go duty free n buy this

i always specify gin martini. even though they should know better, they usually dont.

vietzation 03-11-2012 05:17 AM

lol...how the hell do you guys drink smirnoff or the other shit tasting russian standard??? (that stuff tastes like battery acid)

I perfer sobieski and kettle one as my #1 cheap picks..same price as the other crap; but tastes much better. GG is just a marketing ploy and for people whom want to be "baller"

Hondaracer 03-12-2012 09:22 AM

In terms of cheap cheap stuff I think polar ice is the best

Vansterdam 03-12-2012 09:24 AM

for cheap vodkas my vote goes to iceberg vodka + russian standard

i perfer the van gogh series vodka over grey goose.

goose is good but most if it is all hype. heard people in france dont even drink that shit lol

its a big money maker thats for sure.

Interesting article regarding how Grey Goose was founded: Sidney Frank - The Man Behind Grey Goose Vodka

Basically it has no history or heritage behind it that people think it does, and was completely a packaged marketed product from it's start in 1997. i.e. they basically came up with the concept, name and brand first before the vodka was ever even distilled.

All Sidney Frank's brands are like that. You can include Jagermeister and Corazon tequila along with it. The guy is a master marketer.

I thought he had something to do with Red Bull but actually he is the marketer of "Crunk"

Vansterdam 03-12-2012 09:47 AM

^wtf he created redbull AND jagermeister?

dam jaggerbombs

fucken shower in that shit. :troll:

SkinnyPupp 03-12-2012 09:50 AM

Had to fix, he had nothing to do with Red Bull, but he did create the success of Jager. He has an energy drink called Crunk

Liquid_o2 03-12-2012 12:42 PM

Stoli is my standby for everyday vodka. Can't really go wrong with it.

For something a little higher end I like Van Goh Blue and Belvedere. Goose is fine but I think its a bit overpriced for what you get.
