[QUOTE=HachiSix;7829562]Is there any truth that the reading from the Laser must be presented if requested? And if so, as in the OP's situation can the officer produce both readings? No there is no legal requirement to show the driver the reading. Number of reasons including officer safety at roadside...and the fact that the original highest reading may no longer displayed....letting the doppler audio shift tone run as the target slows down is another way to reinforce your tracking history. Doing that means you will have no speed locked in. |

it really depends on the cops mood and ur car make and ur appearance when it comes to driving 70~ in a 50 zone. |

Just to prevent the spread of misinformation, speeding tickets get more severe each 20 km bracket over the speed limit: 0-20 $138 20-40 $196 40-60 $368 60+ $483 Both 40+ categories are called excessive speed. Same DP points in the old system, probably more trouble in the new system. OP didn't say what the speed limit was, but if it was 50, then 69 is cheaper than 75 by $58. If the speed limit was 60, then there is no difference. Everyone deserves the right to a trial before being found guilty, if you feel like disputing. Exact fines here: ICBC | Fines and penalty points for B.C. traffic offences |

70 in a 50 is a bit much, and exactly why we have ended up with cops picking off drivers for as little as 5 over the limit. Unless it was like the 6 lane 50kph zones we have around here... |
It's not uncommon for speedos to be out of calibration and off by 5-10%. |

2. No, as the readings could no longer be there because they were never locked in as part of the tracking history confirmation, the last reading showen my not be your highest speed as they took several reading (most people slow down when they see the Cops), the testing procedure after use or the unit may have been used by another Officer before you finally get served your VT. Very common in multi-person operations. |
