I build ponds and waterfalls....drive machines....and use the power of the internets to learn stuff. I've been playing with metal for quite a while, learning as I go. Start off welding unimportant stuff....then when you know your welds don't break.... weld stuff like this:

Because eventually you're going to end up like this:

And that sh!t better not break.

Made a quick hand brake handle last night.... should work ok.

I was just thinking how your fabwork has changed, no question good times!!!

616racing 03-18-2012 03:22 PM

After watching it, I remembered it has no paint on it and I literally thrashed on it every night to try to make that comp and that was first time i'd driven it.

Little more detail in the glass fender creation:

Started with styrofoam and spray foam:

http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...s/IMG_6498.jpg

http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...s/IMG_6499.jpg

Then many many layers of body filler to get the profile perfect.....then many coats of primer which gave me this plug:

http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...s/IMG_6502.jpg

Wax it 10 times, add PVA mold release, then gel coat....then start laying glass and resin:

http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...s/IMG_6505.jpg

after a few days of pissing around....its time to pop the mold:

Damn that thing is gonna be stupid light.

616racing 03-20-2012 03:59 PM

Glass fenders are probably 5lbs vs the steel ones that are 10 plus.
