parking in alleys

i live in burnaby.

my gf lives in vancouver.

if i want to go to her house, im forced to park a block away since street parking in front of her house is next to impossible...

now, what pisses me off is this, she has a drive way in her alley wich jussssst fits my truck, however, i cant park there due to the fact that the alley is lined with cars who park there making it impossible to fit my truck into the drive way. also, when they park there, any car other then a smart car going down this alley is forced to drive with 1 side of their car scraping all the trees and bushes along the ditch...thats how narrow it is..

in the event that i do park there cause theres no other cars parked in the alley, then when i leave, i have to pray to god theres no cars parked infront of her drive way or else i cant leave...

is there a number i can call to have them either ticketed by bylaw or towed???? its only at night they park there...

is there even a bylaw in vancouver saying you cant park in an alley??

Lane parking regulations for city of Vancouver

Park Smart: Unsigned Street and Lane Regulations

They can park in the lane providing they leave enough spacing from garbage containers, fire exits, driveways, garages, etc...

There you go:
Quote:

Blocking the lane - vehicles must leave at least 3 metres (roughly 10 feet) clearance in lanes to allow for the free movement of other vehicles.

Blocking a private driveway or garage - vehicles must leave 1.5 metres on either side of and 5.5 metres directly in front of private driveways, roads, and garage entrances:
If they're in the way, call 311, get'em towed the fuck outta there.

Tow every single car in the alley that is violating the bylaw.

If the tow truck can't get past a car, that car is obviously violating the bylaw and needs to be towed. He's just gotta work his way in from the cross-street.

A while back someone on the end of my block parked his car in the alley. There was probably enough room for a garbage truck to get by if they wanted to but I called city hall which sent a bylaw officer out and the owner got a ticket.

If you can't get in, god forbid, in an emergency situation a firetruck/ambulance wouldn't be able to get in either.

i hate it when people park inconsiderately in an alley.

Even if the tow truck can't fit the very least some tickets will or should remind people to park legally next time. Just call my work and we'll get some officers out.
