Aircare + Expired Insurance

Hey guys, I was trying to get my car insurance renewed today before it expired as today's the last day but then I was told that I needed to get my car aircare'd. Tomorrow will be the first day that it expires. Any way that I can get my car aircare'd since my insurance will be expired tomorrow?

grab a permit. should have aircared it a bit earlier!

willystyle 03-19-2012 07:23 PM

Yeah I didn't know about that. U know how much it cost by chance? I just need it for a day.

day permit is like $32?

aircare:

1992 and newer vehicles: $45
1991 and older vehicles: $23
Idle-only test: $23
Re-inspections: $23

day permit can range from mid 20's to mid 50's for one day depending on how much coverage you want.

For all intents and purposes, your day permit should cost you in the range of $32, give or take a few bucks depending on what coverage you want (i.e. collision, comprehensive, etc.)

I've failed Aircare too many times on the MR2 to know. :D

Going to thread jack here. If I sell my car and buy a car that is not currently aircared can I transfer insurance to the non aircared car and not have to get it aircared until my insurance term ends?

iam_dan 03-23-2012 03:11 PM

no. if the car doesnt have valid aircare, then you cannot buy long term insurance, nor transfer insurance from another vehicle onto it.

your only option is to get the aircare done, via temporary permit.

lgman has the most current rates correct.

one day coverage:
$26 for basic 1mil third party liability
$33 for basic 1mil third party liability with collision and comprehensive,
$37 for 5mil third party liability with collision and comprehensive

Raid3n 03-23-2012 03:16 PM

no, the new car needs airscare.

edit: beat me to it. lol thats what i get for leaving the page open so long haha
