The Walking Dead Game

Quote:

With Season 2 of The Walking Dead having let out its last gasp, we turn to Telltale Games' upcoming adaptation to get our fix of Walking Dead until the Season 3 premiere this fall. Thankfully we won't have to wait very long, as the first episode is scheduled to drop next month. More details and the first gameplay trailer after the break.
Set in the universe of Robert Kirkman's Walking Dead comic, which is subtly different from the AMC series, the game follows one Lee Everett, a convicted criminal given a chance for redemption in the wake of the zombie apocalypse. The events and actions that transpire in the 5-episode title will foreshadow and lead into the story of Sheriff Rick Grimes and his crew.
"Telltale has done a phenomenal job in making a game that meets the expectations of fans," said Robert Kirkman of the upcoming title. "Running around with a gun isn't what The Walking Dead is about; it's about is how people caught in an apocalypse deal with facing their own death every day, and the horrible choices they have to make to survive. Telltale's game series has captured the spirit of the comic books perfectly."

The game will be released in 5 individual episodes, each priced at $4.99 (PC and PSN) or 400 MSP (Xbox 360). Preorder customers who order direct from the Telltale site will receive a 10% discount on a "season pass," making the net cost of the entire run $22.49. In addition to the discount, preorder customers are entered into the chance to be made into a minor character for the game's 4th episode, where they will die a horrible death and be reborn as a walker…I'm not kidding.

Being released in episodes isn't exactly ideal *cough HL2* but if the game really maintains the feel of the comics it should be good! And 22$ for all 5 it friendly on the wallet so I'll probably grab the 'season pass' anyone been following this at all?

Leaked Gameplay: http://www.gamedemption.com/1852/the...d-gameplay-hd/

I'm actually down for an interactive game. It'll allow the same feeling of the comics while giving us our own chance at what it would be like to be in that world. I had lots of fun playing games like Kings Quest and Maniac Mansion so I'm sure I'll have fun with this too.

fsy82 03-21-2012 11:45 AM

when is the release date?

Neva 03-21-2012 11:51 AM

wiki says April. It's been pushed from the end of last year to the end of Q1 this year, so i'm hoping soon

fsy82 03-21-2012 12:22 PM

no game play video's out yet?

Neva 03-21-2012 12:34 PM

I've only seen this trailer so far so I'm not too sure.

Might be an interactive?

EDIT PART 2: Found the leaked first 13min gameplay vid http://www.gamedemption.com/1852/the...d-gameplay-hd/ :fuckyea:

when i was watching the finale i thought "this looks like a video game" (with all the headshots and unlimited ammo) "they should make a game out of this"

kind of on the fence about this...it's coming into an already crowded market of zombie survival games.

SkinnyPupp 03-21-2012 07:50 PM

It's a telltale game, don't get your hopes up

PornMaster 03-21-2012 07:50 PM

yup, i agree, check out the jurassic park game they made

Ya there's no telling until we get our hands on it.

Robert Kirkman says it'll live up to the comics but he has also said he's happy with the show and if any of you have read the comics you'll know the show is terrible in comparison.

I always thought the game should be fallout-esque with less radiation and more zombies with a hunger meter or something.

we need an MMORPG zombie game. everyone starts in different cities/towns. meet up with different player build fortresses. raid other survivors for supplies. random giant boss zombies/hoardes attack. "dungeon" type tasks to retrieve....say an armored personel carrier, Gas, etc.

RenoMan 03-22-2012 10:52 PM

^ hell of an idea man

SkinnyPupp 03-23-2012 12:54 AM

Looks like a poor-man's Heavy Rain. I'd probably play it though!

I hope it's a downloadable title so I can split the cost with a buddy on PSN.

closest thing to that right now i'd say is a browser game called Urban Dead.

Urban Dead - A Free Massively Multi-Player Web-Based Zombie Apocalypse

Quote:

Urban Dead is a Free To Play HTML/text-based massively multiplayer online role-playing game created by Kevan Davis. Set in a quarantined region of the fictional city of Malton, it deals with the aftermath of a zombie outbreak. Players enter the game either as a survivor or a zombie, each with different abilities and limitations. Survivors become zombies when they are killed, while zombies can be "revivified" with appropriate technology, returning to life as a survivor - any character played for long will thus spend some time alive and some as a zombie. There are no non-player characters in the game: all survivors and zombies are controlled by players.
its fun cause you don't have to spend a whole lot of time on it.. 10 minutes a day.

Dead frontier.

I used to play, graphics are shit but holy crap a hoard of zombies can be quite intense.
My favorite weapon is the chainsaw, but the sound of the motor does attract hoards.

bloodmack 05-05-2012 01:13 PM

Dead island would be a GREAT zombie mmorpg, hell even L4D with some tweaks would work as well. Personally I love the conecept behind this series, but I'm not a fan of the controls needs some more fine tuning..

RicePanda 05-07-2012 11:22 AM

Don't know if you guys have been following Telltale's releases, but they're pretty good at the point and click type adventure games.

Recently tried to transition from traditional point and click to the more Heavy Rain style interaction with the Jurassic Park game, which kind of flopped because of the overabundance of pointless actions.

Telltale definitely dialed it in properly with this one though. Also the story in the game better reflects the story in the comics, so if you're a fan of the comic series, this is definitely a good buy.

FerrariEnzo 05-08-2012 07:06 AM

didnt really like this game

ChaSuiBow 05-09-2012 12:38 AM

The game isn't bad but I felt Tell Tale games could have done better. Although its a BIG improvement over their Jurassic park game.
