For the V1 users, there is a new accessory that you can buy where you plug into your obd plug and a knob where you set the speed limit. So when your not speeding the radar will auto mute. http://www.valentine1.com/savvy/ Also theres |

The 9500ix remembers the frequency of the signal as well as the location. If you get the same frequency in the same location 3 times, it automatically blocks the signal from alerting you to the presence of radar. It can and will detect multiple radar frequencies in the same location. I have gotten Ka alerts numerous times while the detector is simultaneously blocking the false signal. Laser detectors warn you too late to do anything about it. Depending on how good the cop is, radar bounces off of all sorts of objects. You can get warned about a Ka signal a couple of km away if the circumstances are good enough for it. |

So I should have been working Shoppers Drug Mart/K Mart area on a regular basis with my Radar unit, knowing that on day 4 your 9500iz will not go off when I target you. Sweeeeet ! :fullofwin: |

I've personally never been hit by k-band that was actually a radar gun in Canada. I was hit once in Montana with k, but it was just a guess as to where the signal was coming from....pretty sure it was the cop though. Laser will get a 9500ix every time though. Easiest way is to just not speed ;p |
put it this way. v1 has alot of false alarms around town because of all the crap that goes on. the thing is you SHOULD not be speeding when your driving around town and near these supermarkets and what not. radar detectors are designed for highway/farmland driving. i only actually put mine up during a highway trip, out in the boonies on 16th, or south of the border anywhere. |
I still find it easier to line the needle in the speedometer up with the tick next to whatever the speed limit is and set my cruise control. |

I saw a marked PC have someone pulled over on kensington today, And K band was going crazy as i drove past. 99% of the time though, Ka and Laser are the ones to hit the brakes for. |
^^ I find that alot of police cars still have onboard K band radar.. The handheld guns are mainly Laser as they are trying to phase out Ka band. |
Have only had K band go off once on Victoria and 41st ish, every other time my detectors gone off, it was for laser |
I daily drive from Surrey to Downtown Vancouver. I have only ever encountered 99% KA & 1% Laser dead on I got screwed. The only time I've gotten K band is going down Nordel way and crossing the Oak St. Bridge where there are Speed signs that emit K! I get false Laser alerts all the time crossing the new portman due to the camera system they use for tolls |
