travelling with iphone

I'm going overseas and I plan to upload some tv show on my 16GB iphone (I knew I should have got the bigger one). Anyways I can't put any more vids since the iphone is full. I was planning on bringing a thumb drive with the rest of the shows and plan to upload it at a internet cafe. Question is this possible? I dont want itunes to clear out what I have on the iphone since the public computer wont have my music on there. Is it possible to do this?

Not possible. You need itunes. There might be options if you jailbreak.

Get an iPad

Get a Kingston WI-DRIVE

$48 for 16gb / $110 for 32gb

That looks pretty sweet.
At least now I know there are options if my 16gb ipad runs out of space.
And these drives will probably only get cheaper too.

Thanks for the tip!

the other option is if the place ur getting online at abroad has wireless, you can upload movie files from a computer to the iphone wirelessly using certain apps. the app will show you the correct ip address and port to type in on the PC. as long as both are connected to the same wifi network. it was either avplayer or goodplayer or something along those lines

My suggestion is to stop staring at your iPhone but take I'm the sights and sounds of where your at... Believe me.. coz it won't kill you

And stare at a wall when on trains/planes/buses?

This is the only reason I want to do this. Going over a few weeks I'm going to spending alot of time on planes and trains. I got some books too.

I'm using Avplayer...what the app you are talking about to find the IP?

Would rather get the 500gb goflex for $90 more.

16/32g is laughable unless you plan to only stream 480p or super low bit rate 720p (then why bother with 720?). Granted its pretty pointless to stream decent quality 720p to a 3.5" phone, but if you ever get a tablet or decide to bring your laptop for work, you would not need to buy/lug around another device. Also, having optional TB/FW800/eSata connection is sweet (Usb 3 is std).

just get a memory ca

oh wait :troll:

I just use Air video server to stream my entire library of videos from home. it even works pretty well on 3G

BoredAtWork 03-30-2012 06:43 AM

If you have a NAS at home, get airplayer app, or jailbreak with XBMC

The planes, trains and other modes of transport I use have windows...yours is probably a container type
And yes I would stare outside rather than stare at a phone

SkinnyPupp 03-30-2012 07:16 PM

If that's what you like to do, great! But why would to criticize someone for not wanting to do the same? :seriously:

If you travel a lot, staring out the window gets old fast, no matter where in the world you are. Especially on a plane.

JesseBlue 03-30-2012 10:12 PM

You're the one criticizing... I merely mentioned an alternative to staring at the phone and then you "countered" what I said by staring at a wall...
We get that you travel a lot but many people including myself don't...

Get AirVideo at app store, and install the server version at your home PC or Mac desktop. Then you can stream the movie/tv show from your own PC/Mac as long as you have internet access. Only downside is you need the home computer to be on while you are away.

Yeah I don't know why people here keep suggesting him to stream it from home to overseas.

These are pretty handy, perfect for travelling.

Back up charger for your mobile device and it's a storage device as well.

Would it be possible to install Itunes to a USB stick, then throw all your music on it as well, sync to that Itunes and good to go?

!MiKrofT 04-05-2012 06:50 PM

Not with the latest versions. I think that stopped working since 7. But then you'd run into the problem of syncing an iPhone to 2 different libraries which becomes a big pain in the ass.
