My dog needs surgery; can anyone vouch for this vet?

Hey guys,

My 1/2 rotti, 1/4 pitbull, 1/4 bullmastiff mutt has partially torn his cruciate ligament and I am finally deciding he won't naturally be able to recover so I have decided to get him surgery.

Can anyone vouch for the following vet?
If nobody has experience with him, can you tell me if he looks legit? Is there anything you can notice about his page that should give me reason to look elsewhere?

Check with whatever board regulates vets? Or maybe the BBB? Apparently nobody here has any experience with this one.

what about the vet hospital behind mcdonalds on boundary and lougheed?

my dog had his knee surgeries done there. not cheap, in fact, it was his knees or what was to be my mr2 spyder, dog won.

can always ask for a quote.

my dog was born with the ligaments in his rear legs out of place. normally there is a groove in the knee and bones where the ligament would sit in, he was born with the groove not deep enough so thus the ligament would pop out of place. he would sit with his legs sticking out to the side and straight. he still does cuz he's use to it now, but to allow him to walk better and be a normal dog, and not look like a dog with a stick stuck up his ass, i opted to get the surgery done, after all the bells and whistles, it was 6K a knee.

Age of the dog has to be considered as well. I love my dog to death, he's been by my side ever since he's a pup. He used to go to work with me, sit with my in the truck when I was on the road and by my feet when in my office. Still follows me like he's my shadow. He's now 10 years old, if he needs expensive surgery I don't think I'd do it because these dogs live to 11 or 12 on average.

He's turning 4 next month. The surgery I would be getting done is actually quite common in dogs. We believe he has a partially torn ACL. He had X-rays done and the vet said he was 90% sure that it was partially torn...He told us to try and just let him rest for a couple months and see if there is any improvement. We've tried it but saw no improvement. He's not in obvious pain. He is always down to run around like crazy and he shows no sign of being hurt when he is on the run, but the next day he will be limping pretty badly and hesitates to put his leg down...After a few days it gets a little bit better, but again, he is ready to run like crazy at any time. Anyway, after a year of hoping it will get better, we have finally decided that surgery should be done ASAP to a. repair the current leg and b. prevent arthritis and damage to the opposite leg.

Money is truly not an issue whatsoever, however, I am sure there are surgeons out there that are very capable and are offering to perform the surgery at a very reasonable price. Like any sensible person, I am wanting to find that person. I haven't gotten a chance to look into it in full detail since I have exams right around the corner. I plan to fully research on the surgery and find out who has a good reputation once those are complete.

That said, if anyone can lead to me some sources to help me on my search and to those of you who already have, I will and do really appreciate it. Also, I live in Surrey, and the closer, the better.

You must have a referral from a vet to take your dog there. They will not treat a dog that comes in off the street.

My friend's, now former girlfriend, worked there and his dog was treated there. I have seen the facility and know the treatment he got.

What's a legit price that I should be looking at to get TPLO surgery done? I've had one vet quote me for $6000 while another one has quoted me for $2300.....

Sigh, just sent the big guy in for TPLO surgery....Went with Dr. Avtar Jandi...He has done over 3000 surgeries so I'm confident he'll do a good job. I also spoke with someone else who got similar surgery done from him and they only had good things to say about him and their experience.

Definitely hard to see Simba get sedated and immediately fall asleep....Anywho, he'll be back either tonight or tomorrow; I'll try to post pics and update when I get him back.

How'd it go? I assume everything went well....pics?
