Springfield was named after Springfield, Oregon. The only reason is that when I was a kid, the TV show “Father Knows Best” took place in the town of Springfield, and I was thrilled because I imagined that it was the town next to Portland, my hometown. I don’t want to ruin it for people, you know? Whenever people say it’s Springfield, Ohio, or Springfield, Massachusetts, or Springfield, wherever, I always go, “Yup, that’s right.”

Yea, a lot of street names are characters on the show

My wife will be pissed, she's always been convinced it was Springfield, IL (she's from Chicago).

way more black people in illinois and hardly any in the simpsons.

You'd think it was Tennessee when in one episode Milhouse said that Springfield was "Titans country" in reference to the NFL team.

when everyone started guessing it was their local springfield a bunch of the episodes had thrown references to different springfield cities just to confuse people more

but yeah i always assumed it was springfield oregon too

this may have been relevant...10 odd years ago.

I thought it was always Springfield, Massachusetts haha

I remembered that that house was open for everybody to view it in person, however it's at Las Vegas

i knew that years ago cuz tony hawk got a the key to the city

I thought they revealed it was Kentucky in the movie ? and they drove to new york too... oregon to new york is helluva drive ...
