Mazda 2, great on gas, and tiny yet big.

One 04-11-2012 01:38 PM

Volvo is Chinese

godwin 04-11-2012 01:45 PM

Fiat 500?

see.lai 04-11-2012 02:26 PM

Don't get a RSX-S
I have one. Although I get 400-500km/50L tank, it's also on premium fuel. Insurance is a lot because it's a "sports car"
imo, you should get an impreza, or the old wrx. I'm not too sure about fuel or insurance for that, but you'll probably enjoy that more.

Bahhbeehhaaaa 04-11-2012 03:14 PM

impreza? turbo? and maintenance cost?

Volvo is owned by a Chinese company. They are still produced in Sweden.

see.lai 04-11-2012 04:41 PM

i heard impreza's can now go 1000km/tank on highways as well. That's really appealing

Presto 04-11-2012 05:58 PM

^^^
km/tank measurements are bullshit. Give any car a big enough tank of gas, and it'll go 1000+km/tank.

I don't understand

that's like saying
Mini is German (owned by BMW)
Lamborghini is German (owned by VW Group)
Land Rover is Indian (owned by Tata Motors)

Back to topic

for Golf seriously consider the TDI version. VW diesel engine is one of the best on the market right now

for R53 Mini there are usually fuel pump or some sort of problem that would cost quite a bit to fix at around 100k km

Toyota Prius C looks pretty good (spec and L/KM wise) but it's 3k more than your price range

tofu1413 04-11-2012 06:09 PM

E46 330i, 330ci M-sport!
Lexus IS300

nack 04-11-2012 08:38 PM

c30, they can be done quite well

One 04-12-2012 11:17 PM

Trust me, I wish you were right, I really do.

But Geely is no Tata/VW/BMW. I've personally dealt with Geely on supplier level while working in China. These guys do cost-cutting above everything else. When budget is cut on the assembly line, it won't matter where it is assembled. What this means to the OP is bad resale value, questionable oe parts and brand image. That's my 2cent given my experience with Geely management.

PS. Geely is the company that made the Royce knock-off a while back.

This video is somewhat relevant:

csx-s
200hp, 6spd, NAV, leather, sunroof, LSD , traction control, HID standard.

you can even talk to your car (speech)

Over9K 04-14-2012 07:04 AM

You mean a glorified Civic?

A used Camaro or Mustang?

I wouldn't touch a newer European car, mid 90's the latest for a Benz.

RSX don't have high insurance just cause it's a "sports car" lol...sports cars.

RSX has one of the highest death rates.

46_valentinor 04-14-2012 10:47 AM

^your insurance is also higher depending on how many doors it has

Kayci 04-14-2012 11:15 AM

+1 for the c30!

I agree with you that cost cutting affects any car no matter where it is assembled; but for a $16,000 c30, it won't be newer than 2009. Even if Geely does cost cut, this is before they bought Volvo. I would like to think that Geely has invested in Volvo, they woudln't jepordize such a big investment...even if they did buy Volvo just to gain intel on making a car that wouldn't fall apart from a minor fender bender.

+1 for Volvo c30. Been looking for an ice
White 2012 r design for a while. You are better buying it from the states. I can't justify buying one up here since the mark up is so much more.

1exotic 04-14-2012 02:45 PM

Lotus Elise

GabAlmighty 04-14-2012 03:24 PM

I'll sell you my 242 turbo for 15k. Probably more reliable than any new piece of shit you're thinking of getting.
