sony Xperia S Is this any good? Spec and software looks alittle too outdated for current competition. It seems to compete with GS2 which is at the end of its life cycle. |
Well it does still have 12mp camera and bravia engine 720P screen which are both better than GS2. Software doesn't matter as this will get upgraded to ICS. Dual core 1.5ghz is more than enough power. |
seems like a great phone i was pretty interested in it because of the camera and read reviews looked @ the phone etc etc and it seems like a great device; i've read people complaining about the specs without trying it but those just seem like the retards that want 8 Cores and 5gig ram etc etc it seems great and looks like it performs wonderfully; i equate it with the htc one x (the dual core one) |
i actually liked the physical look, But I am not too impressed with the look of sony's own take of android skin vs like the SG2 and vanilla version. Perhaps adding a ADW launcher or Go launcher EX can fix that. |
It'll probably help but I don't know how indepth Sony's customizing is. As well they tend to lock down their devices to prevent modding and custom roms. Unless that's changed recently. |
where to buy xperia s? |
mobile dna has it in richmond.. saw the phone.. screen is beauty |
the built quality is great, the transparent part is nothing special compare with other phones. |
3yr contract @ rogers $99 or $500 month to month |

I believe it's only 499 without contract at the sony store |
^hmm, i just check the store at crystal mall and they said $650 no contract. quite expensive |
There is no Sony Store in Crystal Mall... :suspicious: Some guy also called Park Royal and they said 499. I haven't been at a Sony Store to confirm yet so I cannot say for myself but 499 seems to be legit. Sony Xperia S will be $499.99 outright | MobileSyrup.com |
all these prices makes me second guess getting a pureview since its $700 lol sure its got a great camera but $200 mo? :/ |
Confirmed $499 w/ Sony Store Metrotown but it's locked to Rogers. Anyone have any luck getting it unlocked for other carriers? |

anyone got this phone? |
Hey guys, im interested in this phone. but I have a few questions to people who are more knowledgeable with Rogers etc. I am using Rogers, and DONT have a data plan. My current phone that i bought unlocked is HTC Desire Z (smart phone). I simply inserted my old phones sim card in to use it. I dont need data plan, as i dont really use the internet much on the go. I simply upgraded to a smart phone for other uses. wifi, camera, games, texting etc etc. If im not mistaken, this Xperia S uses a MICRO sim card. which means I wont be able to simply buy this phone and use it with my current sim? will i have to go through rogers to get a micro Sim card? (keep in mind i dont want to switch to a data plan.) If im not mistaken, they wont sell me a smart phone unless i have data right? random note: im eligible to get a hardware upgrade. havent bought a phone from rogers in about 5 years. they said i can get a new phone for the same price as someone signing a new contract. (99$ for the Xperia S). sorry for long post, hope someone here can point me in the right direction! thanks in advance! |
You need a new Microsim. You can just buy one and have your account transferred over. Not sure if you can do it online like Fido. |
^thanks! i just have to call rogers to have my account transferred over? or would one of those Rogers stores/booths in malls work? EDIT: nvm, i found the answer! it says online, at retailers, or over phone. woot! thanks again! |

have you actually used this site before? |
friend has one and came over. Damn! Even tho it's the same 1280x720 res as other phones out there, the higher pixel density makes it look CRAZY sharp! and the camera button access the camera super fast. iOS like lock screen notifications is nice too. I always thought Google or Samsung phones were the way to go with Android-based phones but I'm strongly considering this one. Only bad thing is it STILL doesn't have ICS |

we really need a general mobile chat topic in here this thread seems the most relevant for my post ;) Xperia Arc S vs Nokia N8 (2010 model with 680mhz cpu and 256mb ram) or ICS vs Belle |
