"driver is in hospital recovering from minor injuries"

Whoever it is, they're very lucky to be alive.

Driver lucky to be alive after horrific crash: VPD
The car was cut in half after hitting a pole, bursting into flames

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - A driver is lucky to be alive after a horrific early morning crash in Vancouver.

It happened on Cambie Street near McGuigan Avenue around 4 a.m.

Vancouver Police say a high-end Audi was speeding south on Cambie, when it passed through West 33rd Road, entering a curve. The driver lost control, hitting a pole on the west side of the street, splitting the car in half.

"The vehicle he [the driver] was travelling in went diagonally through a pole from the front passenger side to the rear driver side," explains VPD Cst. Jeff Shell. "Within about an inch or two inches, he would have been hit by the pole and probably would have killed himself. If anybody else had been in the vehicle, they would have been dead."

The driver managed to escape as the car caught fire. When police arrived on the scene, they found the man sitting nearby. He was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police say speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in this crash.

If you saw this collision, police would like you to call them at 604-717-3012.

My guess is that the driver lost control of an Audi A6.

Holy crap.....about what speed do you think you have to be doing to split the car in half when you're not even going at it dead on?

That's an A7 for sure. Take a look StylinRed's image #2, that's the perfect outline of the bottom of the A7's headlight.

Audi A7? That's the car with the rear end that looks like it has the down syndrome right?

Need to see more of these cars destroyed like that.

Without any injuries of course.

If you look at this picture,

It has chrome mirrors on the side. Definitely not an A7, and some sort of S / RS model.

the fact is it's so fucked up beyond recognition even on a car forum
that tells you a lot about how the driver should really be punished
