Do dui's go away after 5 years? Or are they there forever?

Glove 05-08-2012 02:45 PM

I think a dui is a criminal conviction, and stays forever.

Dont quote me on that though

^^

i think unless your heading to court its not a criminal conviction because the police officer needs to recommend criminal charges for dui no?

otherwise it should just be a conviction under the motor vehicle act.

dui is a criminal charge? i think they should charge people for dui. but not label them as a criminal if they never killed anyone in their lifes....

but officially, you have to wait 5 years.

I wish traffic convictions would stay on a driver's abstract for more than 5 years.

was it difficult for you to find a job after that??

sebberry 05-10-2012 03:18 PM

After what?

Harryt 05-10-2012 05:53 PM

thats why kids don't drink and drive... if anyone gets a DUI charge, it shouyld stay for 5 years for sure. Then a person will learn that it was wrong to do and should never do it again.

Sure you didn't kill someone YET, but it could've happened and then what? the 5 years would be worth someone's life?
