Which Phone Provider Hey guys, I have no idea what kind of providers are out there and what sort of plans but I'm trying to get a no contract plan for my Mother, it'll be mainly for data for her iphone when she's out of the house. Minimum talk, no text or voicemail needed. She only needs the data for whatsapp and viber so she doesn't need a ton of data. If she's not in the tri-cities area she's in Vancouver so I'll need some good coverage. Whats the best provider/plan to suit her needs at this point? Oh and she's only in town for 6 months of the year. TIA |
7-11's Speakout Wireless Prepaid? $10/month for their Unlimited mobile browsing plan (Some people were able to get Whatsapp and pretty much full data working on Android phones, I have no clue about iPhones though). Talk time costs $0.25/minute, you could probably just top up two $35 cards and it'll be good for 6 months of data and a few minutes. The topups also last 1 year, so you wouldn't need to do anything with the account while she's out of town for the other half of the year. |
Check out rogers prepaid, they have a 20.75 a month with unlimited text, unlimited talk between 3pm-6pm, 100mb data. Although I don't know if that's enough. |
Petrocanada has a decent one too. be warned theat unlimited browsing = lot of internet dependent apps wont work. this applies to Speakout too (7-11) both however use the Rogers network so reception should not be an issue. |
I ended up going with Virgin after reading the fine print for my top 2 options. Anyone with Virgin? I got an email saying they are charging me like an additional $6 to get paper billing when I specifically said I wanted online billing ONLY and reiterated myself about 4x. Now I can't find the link that lets me opt out of the paper billing option. %#)(@$*)!~(#)%*@#!!!! Virgin Mobile!! Grrr |
