JDM vehicle inspection

I am highly considering importing an s14 Silvia :fullofwin: from Japan through Pacific Coast Auto Imports as I have heard good things but I am just a bit worried about the inspection the car has to go through once its here in BC.

From what I have read, the headlights need changing, tires, maybe brake pads, maybe clutch...

I just want to know from some of you guys who have imported a car from Japan, around how much should I have set aside for surprises that may come up? (obviously I'm hoping for no engine or transmission issues)

Also can you guys recommend an inspection shop? I live in Langley :).

Have you guys imported a car with Derek at Pacific Coast Auto Imports?

Thanks!

It all depends on the conditions of the car really, however there are something you have to change in order to make it comply with the law such as getting DOT headlights and DOT tires (only ones I can remember off the top of my head at the moment)

That's a good company, I recommend using him.
Also keep in mind there is a process that needs to be done to pick the car up once it gets here.
If you want PM me and I'll give you a good import broker, he'll do everything for you.

As for Inspection, if you look around there should be some less strict inspection shops.. especially in the Langley/Surrey area.
I've never had to get tires changed...

Most places will just require DOT headlights and day time running lights.
Once you pass inspection put your old headlights back.

You'll be better off buying an S14 and throwing an SR20 in it.

Seems like you want a JDM just cause it's RHD.

Inspecting is not a big deal. If I can make Skylines pass with no problems and my POS old Mini I had, an S14 will be no problem.
