Is this worth it?

Looking to build a new computer and my friend offered me to sell me his
He said he'll give me these for $850:

HX650 Power Supply
Seagate 1TB Hard Drive
Corsair Dominator 6GB
i7 930 Processor
Big Bang X-Power Motherboard
Asus Xonar Sound card, he just said it's $80 atm at NCIX
some CD/DVD drives
GTX 560 Ti
and hes not including a case

is this worth it or can I build a better one for $850?

twitchyzero 05-21-2012 10:54 PM

that price should include a case but the type of video card is gonna make or break the deal..
if it's like a GTS 250 :fuckthatshit:
it better be a 460 or better

bluejays 05-21-2012 10:56 PM

I'd stay away from it, for that price you can buy a better complete gaming pc from Craigslist or etc

With $850, I would rather pick the parts myself and build it (or get NCIX/ME to assemble).

850$ is quite a bit for hardware like that. I7 930 came quite a long time ago.

For 850, you should be able to get a

Sandybridge 2600K or Ivy Bridge 3770K CPU ~$350 (if you really need 8 threads, if not, then save moola and get a 2500k or 3570K)
Z77 mobo ~$200
8GB ram ~$50
XFX 750W PSU ~$70 MIR
Case + DVD drive ~$120 (depends on your choice really...)
1TB drive ~$100
Xonar DG ~$30
Testing and Assembling $50

Somewhat out of your budget, but hey, everything is brand new :P

Hope this helps!

FerrariEnzo 05-22-2012 05:44 AM

JoeyStorm 05-22-2012 11:49 PM

even with a gtx560 ti, I would spend the $850 on new parts

GC8 05-23-2012 10:30 AM

ditto, spend on the new parts
