Reviews are out and so far it's not that great :\

Save your money and watch the 25 minutes main plot from the the movie.

"With The Amazing Spider-Man opening next week on July 3rd, you may feel like you’ve seen the entire movie through the recent marketing barrage. Well, you have seen about twenty-five minutes of it, because someone’s gone through the trouble of editing all the footage together into a mini-film for your viewing pleasure. Add to it a new clip, TV spot and featurette and you can watch nearly a third of The Amazing Spider-Man without paying a dime."

I'll repost my comment from Facebook why I liked this movie so much

(someone asked if Lizard was any good, since Lizard isn't exactly a famous villain)

To me, the Lizard storyline is the original storyline, so I liked it. The Lizard CG was kind of lame, but actually most of the rest of the CG was pretty good. Unlike the original Spiderman movies, he didn't look like a goofy cartoon when he was flying around the city.

This was one of the more 'human' comic movies, and casting Martin Sheen and Sally Field as the Parkers really held everything together. When the story took place (and we all know what happens) there was still an emotional impact. We know WHY Peter decided to become Spiderman, and the first movie (and comic) didn't portray this as well as this movie did.

Also, another thing I liked was that unlike Avengers, it wasn't "turned up to 11" all the time. Avengers was just one stunt scene after another. Yes they were pretty awesome scenes, but after a while it got a bit fatiguing. With Spiderman, you go to enjoy the story as well as the action. The only problem I had with it was the story is just so familiar, if you have read the original comic and watched the first movie.

mmm.... emma stone

DanHibiki 07-03-2012 02:07 AM

77% fresh only. that is kinda expected when you retell an origin movie nor far after a masterpiece.

SkinnyPupp 07-03-2012 03:00 AM

Who cares what arbitrary score it has on some website? Find out why people like it or don't like it. Man, people are getting so lazy they won't even read reviews anymore. They just want a score to decide for them

cliffhanger33 07-03-2012 03:15 AM

Agreed how it's already been a decade since the first spiderman. Doesn't seem that long ago at all!

andrew garfield nailed the role perfectly imo. on a side note I think the movie was really great and it kept me on the edge of my seat.

CA_FTW 07-04-2012 09:53 AM

It was Enjoyable..

However Garfield doesn't seem like Peter Parker to me.
As someone that Loved TAS from the 90's..

THis is Peter Parker to me:

This Skiny Kid with Big Hair didnt feel like Peter Parker at all

Tobey looked the part more:

Also wasnt a fan of the new personality of Peter.. I prefer him as the nerd/loser, Andrew version of him was a bit to cool., hip. I guess it works for the kids these days, but Peter parker wasnt a hipster

Also wasnt a fan of how the Lizard looked.. no Snout..

movie was entertaining, but i dont see it reaching the same level as the 2002 spider man.

Sorry but your Peter Parker is wrong.

Peter Parker is a skinny, ugly geek. Andrey Garfield is a skinny, ugly geek. Absolutely perfect casting.

The smart ass cocky "I got picked on all my life and now it's my turn" is what Spiderman was all about. And that's what this Spiderman is all about.

yogenfruz 07-04-2012 10:30 AM

Exactly was I was thinking Skinny. It's the idea of, "look at all this power I have, now I'm in charge."

I can't wait to see it.

CA_FTW 07-04-2012 12:45 PM

Sorry.. i was refering to the Peter Parker from "The Animated Series" .

that Peter Parker is far from Skinny.

Case Closed..

In my opinion, i enjoy a Peter Parker that looks more like that.. thats all..

My opinion is far from wrong.. lol.. its just mine..

Movie was entertaining.

kwy 07-04-2012 12:54 PM

Peter Parker from the comics is skinny..that's the way it is in the movies, and that seems about right to me. The animated series Peter Parker looks like a jock, not an awkward nerd.

cliffhanger33 07-04-2012 01:19 PM

Probably just me, but I really liked tobey as spiderman, hopefully my perspective will change when I watch this new one

Derek_N84 07-04-2012 01:20 PM

I think the cocky behaviour is spot on, Spiderman in the comics was always a smart ass making wise cracks.

Sentinel 07-04-2012 02:41 PM

Thought the movie was pretty good. I'd give 8/10 on it. Didn't like a few things about it though, see the spoiler.

The fight scenes are way better than the Tobey's 3 movies.

Spoiler!

Vale46Rossi 07-04-2012 05:46 PM

Oh yeah guys!!!

Remember to stay after the credits.

When they make a movie based on the animated series, then you'll be right. Until then, your opinion is quite literally wrong.

palepilsenpin0y 07-05-2012 09:10 AM

I actually really enjoyed this film!

Loved the arrogant, wise-cracking Spidey that they had going on during his fights. That's how Peter Parker was supposed to be in the comics!

Thought the acting was pretty superb as well. Definitely enjoyed it better than Tobey Maguire and Kristen Dunst's performances.

It was a lot more emotionally engaging than the original Sam Raimi trilogy. Gotta agree with SkinnyPupp, Martin Sheen and Sally Field were great as the Parkers!
