fructose= sugar from fruits
sucrose= simple sugar
high fructose corn syrup= sugar from processed corn syrup

the reason these are always listed as separate ingredients is so companies don't have to list "sugar" as the first ingredient.

obviously most everyone knows that it is mandatory for companies to list the ingredients on the label in of high % to lowest. if they just called it what it was, processed sugar, the number 1 ingredient in almost every product would be sugar. this obviously would not go over well with nutrition conscious people.

in reality, not only are these "all natural" juices high in sugar, but they are super high in calories. nobody ever drinks 1 cup of that shit...it calls you back for more and before you realize it, you have downed the whole damn carton and ingested almost 1000 calories of sugar.

its the same with all juices....ever checked out the label on "100% Natural" cranberry juice...or apple juice? sugar in a bottle.

Clearly you shouldn't be speaking then.

I've cut back on buying orange juice after finding out that it has just as much sugar as Mountain Dew. It was a hard and sad thing to do. :okay:

Datsun 06-01-2012 03:36 AM

Not too bothered by this...I'm thinking its because I'm used to my dad calling Sunny D orange juice :joy:

SkinnyPupp 06-01-2012 03:53 AM

I never touch juice unless it comes from a fruit I am eating. The stuff is disgusting if you imagine what it must look like before the colors and sugar are added. Besides, even the "best" fruit juice is way more sugar at one time than our bodies can handle, unless it's right after a workout or something.

The stuff is like crack, both in its addictiveness and the damage it does to your body.

It's good that this kind of thing is getting some publicity

costcos on sale for this weekend too like $11 + change for 4 1.9l cartons

Like Skinny said... there is so much sugar in fruit juices it's ridiculous. The companies making this junk want you to thing it's a healthy drink because it's made with fruit.

Boostaholic 06-03-2012 08:42 PM

it's sad that our food has to be marketed as "Natural", as if the default choice is "Un-Natural".

LiquidTurbo 06-03-2012 09:44 PM

just eat real fruit.

Teh Doucher 06-03-2012 10:04 PM

Ugh.. So sick of the fact that I can't believe in people or products anymore. World seriously is turning into a god damn shit hole.

Culture_Vulture 06-03-2012 10:04 PM

buying OJ is so stupid, how do you justify paying $5 for a carton of OJ when a big bag of good quality navel oranges will run you less than half that price?

rslater 06-03-2012 10:07 PM

I think its important to separate between fresh juice and the juice made by most large suppliers.

While I agree drinking 100% freshly made juice using only fruits will have between 40 and 50 grams of suger per 500ml, their is absolutely no reason not to drink fresh vegetable combined with fruits.

For the guy that suggested you should eat the whole fruit to get vitamins, you are retarded. If anything, its the exact opposite. The cell walls of whole fruits and its fiber content make it more difficult for you body to absorb 100% of the vitamins, minerals and live enzymes. The reason you juice fruits and vegetables is to break the cell walls down and extract all the nutrients that are locked into the fibers. You also allowing your digestive system the easiest way to absorb these nutrients as it's not working to break the fiber down. It is the quickest way to absorb all those things your eating whole fruits for, obviously except for the fiber.

What about the Sun Rype Fruit plus Veggies?

I buy the 6 pack at costco whenever they're on sale. Based on their ingredients, it looks like there are no sugars added. It is from concentrate, but for the price, can't really expect it not to be...

SunRype - Fruit Plus Veggies Strawberry Banana

Simple solution is to move out to the middle of nowhere and grow your own produce.

My grandfather grew most of what we ate at their place, and it was the best food I have ever had. Literally minute fresh fruits and vegetables.

"no sugar added" is meaningless when the fruit juice concentrate is 99% sugar.
