1992 Civic Paint Job

Hey Guys, I have a 1992 Civic, and Im hoping to get some body work to be done. I'd like to get my front and rear bumper, hood repainted. I'd also like to get my quarter panels and tail gate to be fixed coz there's rust build up.

So, I went to this body shop and told me that I might as well repaint the whole car. Coz the only panels I got left are the doors and the roof.

Is 2500 dollars a fair price for refinish the whole car?

I need your opinions about this. Thanks so much RS! :)

Might as well because chances are the colors gonna be a little off if you leave just the doors and roof. $2500 is very cheap to get it done, my guess is there just gonna paint the bumpers on the car and not do any R&I. I dropped 4gs on paint 2 years ago. If that comes with a warranty i would say go for it, otherwise stay away. Theyll probably just sand the rust down, slap on a layer of filler and youll have the same problems back.

Hi, Sorry, What's R&I?

Removal And Installation. Stuff like moldings, door handle, mirrors etc theyre just gonna leave on and mask off.

Good work isn't always cheap, and cheap work isn't always good.

Depending on what you'd like the final result to be, $2500 sounds somewhat reasonable for a respray.

If its paint only and no bodywork or R&I then yea that seems right, but if hes doing $2500 for bodywork too then you know its gonna get butchered.

Quarter panels needs some work. You already know Civics are common with this. What's the proper procedure to get this fixed anyway?

Depends how well you want it done and how far the rust has got. If its surface it can just be sanded down and primer then paint. If its pitted the body shop would grind it down and slap a layer of putty on there. But the proper way and best way to do it is to cut that section out and replace it so it gets contained and you wont have to deal with that area for years and years.
