Shanny fucked up HARD
He had a chance to send a message to all players in the league and set a new precedent or to re-inforce his original rules he had strictly enforced the past two seasons
Principal point of contact: shoulder
Was the puck there? yes
Was it early or late? no
Blindside? arguable
Suicide pass? 150%
Dirty intentions? for sure
So if you are caught with your head down and you get destroyed (legally) the player who gets you gets suspended. Okay
League has changed WAY to much the past 10 years
2003 SCF, Stevens destroys Kariya with his head down at the same spot (dirty hit in regards to today's rules), no retaliation, no penalty, no suspension life goes on
Fast forward to today? Even tho the hit is absolutely clean, he gets 5+game, 2 game suspension and everyone goes after him

Some good trash talk coming from Montreal player Prust in response to Ottawa coach MacLean's comments about the hit. MacLean said after the game that Habs player Diaz is to blame for the bad pass that was a bit behind Eller. MacLean: "Our player hits him, but 61's the guy to blame."
Prust: " He's already shown enough disrespect," Prust said. "We don't really care about what that bug-eyed, fat walrus has to say."
Prust is right. Coach MacLean does look like a bug-eyed fat walrus.

Am I blind? After watching Shannys video I don't even see the head as the principal contact and the shoulder as the secondary contact.

-totally agree with the comments here about Shanahan's bad decision on the Gryba suspension. The league messed up.
It's a clean hit. The only reason that the league is giving a 2 game suspension is because of the extent of Ellers injury.
It's like the NHL logic is "If player suffers a major injury, resulting in the stretcher coming out on the ice, even though the hit on the player is clean", BAM, the player gets a suspension.
Seriously, Shanahan?

Ference = history, clear intent to injure, extended elbow to hit Grabo's head = 1 game
Gryba = no history, rookie, clean, solid hit = 2 games
great consistency #ShannyLogic
