I must say I agree, but equivalently, I wouldn't play for the Vancouver Canucks, cause I'd actually bring my game every time and be able to chip in offensively.

Well, Philly found their Dman, now to get him signed. Good powerplay guy at this stage of his career, lost a step defensively

PHI will now negotiate a deal with Streit. Have to believe compliance buyouts are in the works for Bryzgalov and Briere to free up cap space

I can't imagine that ends well. Mark Streit is 35 so any contract he signs is on the books for the Flyers even if he retires. It's only a wipe if he's perma-injured like Pronger, unless they changed that in the CBA too.

Big money til he's 40 or a crazy one year deal for $8m?

Is this guy a wizard? 4 for 4 in previous years predictions. He says, Blackhawks will win in 6.

Hockey Prospectus | NHL Playoffs, Stanley Cup Finals: Chicago Blackhawks vs. Boston Bruins

Quote:
Here is the case for Boston winning in seven games:

-The Bruins are a great team that is playing great. We are talking about the recent-enough 2011 Stanley Cup champions, who knocked off a highly-talented and favored Vancouver Canucks team. Boston went on to have a dominant first half of 2011-12…before fading away (maybe not a Cup hangover, but not being able to sustain the same high level of play indefinitely) in the second half of that season. The Bruins of the last two series have that same dominant look. Yes, they had more than their fair share of good fortune against the Penguins, but don't write it off as just that simple.

-The Bruins have a lot of similarities to the Detroit Red Wings, who came within a Game 7 overtime of eliminating the Blackhawks in round two: despite a middling offense and power play, they have a strong defense and penalty killing, excellent 5-on-5 play including controlling possession, and good goaltending. Though the Bruins' power play is a notch worse than that of the Red Wings, give Rask the nod over Howard and then you toss in the presence of Chara to boot. It could be the right recipe for an upset, with the right matchup.

But here is the case for Chicago winning in six games:

-They have been dominant in the better conference.

-Their depth will beat Boston's depth.

-The teams that pulled out the rare wins against the Blackhawks this season needed help from their power play to overcome Chicago's great even strength play. That formula is unlikely to work for Boston.

At the end of the day, I'm going with the latter scenario.

Chicago Blackhawks in six games
I still say Bruins. Toews playoff performance has been on the decline and Marchand...lets say, he's a pest that will provoke penalties. And Milan Lucic's play has picked up.

i dont think streit lost too much of a step, reports are he was playing with an injured leg all year which would explain his slower mobility.

FYI for those who wanted Byslma, he got extended two years till 2016...

lol.

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger 1h
Streit's agent, Pat Brisson will begin negotiations with Paul Holmgren today. A 4 year deal is the target.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 1h
Sorry, meant to say $4M to $5M range that Streit will be looking for. He was making $4.1M per year on his expiring contract.
