Left turn lane going thru intersection

Hi there,

I need a confirmation on a traffic law.

If I'm approaching an intersection where there is a left lane for left turn only. While the right lane (curb lane) is for thru traffic going across. After the intersection, there's two lanes where the right lane slowly closed off with arrows on the ground telling you to merge. Which lane should the thru traffic lane go into ? the left lane after the intersection or the merge lane after the intersection ?
(location: North Bound on Griffiths Drive x Kingsway in Burnaby)

Similar question, if the left lane is for left turn only. While the right lane is for thru traffic, but the road is curvy while it's direction of the lane is vague.
(location: East bound Sprott Street x Norland Ave in Burnaby)

Reason I ask is, it's often that reckless drivers tend to drive through the intersection on the left turn lane and I see many close calls everyday. If the left turn lane traffic went thru the intersection and involve in an accident with the car on the right lane, who's fault is it?

Good question. I have no idea, but thanks to your picture, I know what you're talking about.

I would assume the left lane is where they should be after the intersection as that's the thru lane and the right lane that ends is for people turning right onto that street so they can merge into the left lane without worrying about people going straight hitting them.

The left lane you have shown us shows a mandatory left turn so cars in that lane must turn left in the intersection. The right lane shows cars aree required to go straight and then merge towards the centre of the road. There appears to be only 1 lane which moves position towards the centre line as there must be some sort of obstruction if they keep going straight Cars who don't turn left in the left turn lane are "disobeying a traffic control device" and could be considered "driving without due care" if they cause a crash from their illegal refusal to turn.

i think they're supposed to go into the lane which is most directly in front of them, then merge into the left lane.

edit: in the intersection you're talking about, it looks like its just one wide lane, at least according to Street View, there are no lane markers indicating a merge..

Hi freaks show, its the intersection in front of 8 rinks. The construction of the overpass changed the lane quite a bit. The problem with the thru lane is that, it's pointing to either lane after the intersection cause the intersection is kinda curvy.

I'm always under the impression that I'm supposed to go to the lane that's adjacent to the yellow line, no?
