Lowest Price I've seen for Crucial M4 256GB : $184.99 Disclaimer: I don't work for RFD or NCIX.. This is by far the lowest I've seen for the Crucial M4 256gb SSD drive. I just bought one last week for $214.. Hope they are wiling to do a price adjustment! Computers & Electronics : NCIX Weekend Sale (Ends Sunday Night!) | Toronto Deals - RedFlagDeals.com |
if you dont need one wait a bit prices are predicted to drop further |
If you're frugal and want one now, NCIX also has a couple SSDs as low as 50c/GB: NCIX.com - Canada's Premier Computer Store - Online PC Discount Store, Buy Computer Accessories |
^holy crap , that's cheap.. I've read many horror stories on OCZ units in general, so I'm willing to pay the extra $ for an Intel or Crucial one |

As well it was the sandforce firmware that was causing the problem which has long since been resolved with an update. OCZ just appeared more problematic because they just sold so many more drives than most manufacturers. |
For those without SSD, get this now. :D For those with SSD, especially SATAIII ones, maybe wait for ReRam to smoke NAND-based SSD before buying. :troll: |
I had OCZ and now Crucial, for regular users, I don't think there will be many issues on the reliability, as long as you keep the most updated firmware. For people who already use SSD, I'd wait for the new controller or SATAIV or something. |
so what would be a good bang for buck SSD with good reliability for SATAII chipsets? looking for 180gb+. the prices keep dropping so i'll probably end up with this or the 520 down the road. |
I'd get it now. Yes, it will go cheaper the longer you wait. But you could wait forever if you want, and it will be free! But what's the point of that if you can't enjoy it? Going to SSD now will give a HUGE and NOTICEABLE performance boost. Like I said before, I set up a test system using a normal HDD a few weeks ago, and I couldn't believe how slow it was going back. Every little thing had noticeable pauses, as the HDD clunked away... |
it's for an older aluminum macbook, half to osx half to w7. i have a M4 in my desktop and my other laptop. i was curious if there are any savings to be had 'cause it only has sataII ports, should still very usable with a 240gb ssd + a 1tb for storage. |
