Full frame?
 

So i use a canon T1i to shoot pics, i usually use a 17-85 with a hoya filter, it has great shots but i was thinking maybe of buyIng a Canon 5d instead ( mark1) , solely for the full frame sensor.
Is it going to make a big difference between my 1.6x and a full frame in terms of low light shooting and picture clarity/quality?

It'll make a huge difference in low light shooting it's not even funny! The DOF and dynamic range also comes into play with a 40% more space then a cropped body.

5D is a great buy.
If you want video, bigger screen (which also shows nicer images), more resolution, better ISO get the 5D2.

Obviously i want the mark 2 but i'd have to sell my car in that case. Then i'd have nothing to take a picture of haha , i guess ill stick wih the 5d mark 1 ;)

Don't forget that your EF-S lens(es) would not work with the 5D, so you'll need to budget some extra money for lenses as well. But the 5D (MkI, at least) is kind of picky when it comes to lens selection. The vignetting becomes quite obvious at the wide end when you use consumer-grade lenses. Stick an L-lens on the body, and the problem becomes significantly less noticeable.

the difference between a used 5D and 5D2 is in the $700-800 range. what the heck ya driving?

Well a mark 1 is 700 aprox and a mark 2 is aprox 1300, i have many hobbies, this is ine of my "secondary" ones and i dont really need to spend that much money on photography at the moment, as much as i'd like to.

Sometimes 700-800 is alot of money for some people, i know it is for me.

Full-frame is great but just like everyone else says you need only EF lenses, and so forth. Personally, i'd learn to use your t1i first as much as you can. It's a great camera and you will get awesome images from it. Full-Frame isn't going to make you a better photographer, its just a "nicer" tool for the job. I'm using a cropper, and have many awesome images that make me very happy!

I have quite a bit of experience with dslr's, i shoot a lot of long exposure shots or low light situations and i hate any sort of flash, so at the moment i'm held back by my sensor's capabilities.
Obivoulsy i'd like the mark 2 but we'll see how much money i can put into this hobby.

i was only joking about the "what are you driving" remark, but you're still going to have to shell out a bunch more for lenses. if the body itself is your whole budget, you may have to rethink this?

the 5D's low light results isn't too much better than newest crop sensors. save up more and get a 5DII instead. ud definitely have to factor in the lens cost as well. the best bang for buck option for a walk-around right now might be the new tamron 24-70VC.

My t1i is showing its age so a mk2 should be the perfect replacement

How about a T4i with the new 18-135mm IS STM? It looks like a great little kit. Or, get the T4i body and the 15-85mm IS. Super sharp lens. I'll try and do a review on it as soon as I get one, which should be next week.

The 5DmkII feels a bit dated now, although the image quality is still quite impressive but most newer bodies will outperform it in AF performance, recoverable shadow detail and low light capabilities. I am going to be selling mine soon, I think as I just got a 5DmkIII.

I recently moved from XSi to 5dmk2
the difference is very noticeable
viewfinder is much much bigger and it helps with composing shots
also it can handle noise much better than the crop sensors
i lost a lot of money when i bought 5d mark 2 though cuz i had to sell the lens i had for my xsi and these days since technology changes so quickly the price drops really fast
