Car got keyed

After work yesterday I went back to my black Suzuki SX4 to find a 2 ft long key scratch on the hood of my car.

I took a closer look at the scratch and found that it didn't get through to the metal yet. Maybe just through the clear coat, so it might be able to buff out without repainting.

Please give me some advice on what would be the best course of action.

My probable options are to:

-Go through ICBC, pay a deductable and do a shit load of hassle
ICBC | Vandalism claims

-Pay a professional to fix it (but who?)

-DIY, pay for tools + materials to fix it (would have to find out what to get + do)

Im no ICBC expert so I'm not sure whether to claim or not,

If you are like forget it, not going to deal with ICBC, choosing paying for your lost then look at http://unscratch.ca/

They had a groupon deal, $29 fix all light/medium scratches per panel.

Originally would cost $75

if you can feel the deepness of the keying then you cannot polish it(its too deep)

I wouldnt let icbc know, just take it to a polish, they should be able to take it out

I would suggest going through ICBC. That's what insurance is for after all.

Just go to ICBC. I just got my SUV repainted because it got keyed, 5 panels. Total came to $299X, body work costs too much nowadays.

if i were u, ill probably buy one of those paint pens from stealership and do a bit of touch up. I dont think is worth the time to drop the car off at the body shop etc... and a pen is only like 20 bucks

i say make the icbc claim.... if its too much of a hassle for you why not try richmond autobody. they have a valet service where they will come to your house do the estimate, pick up the car from whereever you are(work, home, school) and bring it to the shop and fix the vehicle. once its ready for delivery they will even delivery the car back to you. all you have to do is call icbc to make the claim and phone richmond autobody and they will set everything up at your convience. if you need their number its 604 278 9158.
