Drive Backup Solution

What's the easiest and most effective way to backup a system partition and restore it to another hard drive while operating under the same PC?

I suspect that my primary hard drive is failing, so I will need to RMA it.

TIA!

Thanks!

How do I restore the image onto a new HD?

Windows 7 has a built-in backup utility that will do all this.

^ Yeah, I almost forgot that.

Can I use the Windows 7 backup and restore utility to backup to a drive which I will be restoring Windows on?

make the boot disc, and boot off it when you're ready to restore.
it'll ask you for the destination of the image, and just point to it.

Absolutely. It can backup the system drive, the Reserved System space, and any other partitions you have. It will create a bootable CD/DVD; you just boot off that and restore from the backup.
