because the Higgs Boson is used to create mass (or weight), it's kind of pointless to "weigh" it; so they're giving the energy value it has, because we all know that matter and energy are roughly equivalent.

Also they're saying how much energy it explodes out with from one of the collisions. Or something. it's so beyond me it's freaky. And awesome.

they can go deeper (one day)...

but this is really freaking cool.

Stephen Hawking is like "doh" he was betting on that it wouldn't be found ;)

anyway they're still not certain that they found it (boson) they're just saying they found something

that's incredibly incredibly corny

So the higgs-boson creates mass...

The next question is where did the higgs-boson particle come from?

The BH particle actually does something, so calling it "God" is an insult.

a level 4.9 sigma significance is as close to certain as it gets.

sigma 5 is a confidence level of 99.99994%.

The author that coined that term actually wanted to call it the 'Goddamn particle', in reference to the extraordinary effort and cost involved in confirming its existence.

The LHC has been searching for the HB for about a year, at 200 million collisions a second.. and they've found roughly 3 potential HB's until they found one recently.

But I agree, calling it the 'God Particle' is an insult.
