Raymond Ouyang - pleaded guilty to molesting and injuring a sturgeon, possession of a dead sturgeon; fined $7500 and banned from fishing for one year.
Hung Nguyen - pleaded guilty to molesting and injuring a sturgeon; fined $3000 and banned from fishing for one year.
David Boriboune - pleaded guilty to molesting and injuring a sturgeon; fined $3500 and banned from fishing for one year.
Charlie Tran - pleaded guilty to fishing without a licence; fined $500 and banned from fishing for one year.

The fishing bans should have been lifetime given the seriousness of the crimes, and the fines higher as well.

all Asian's....seems to be the common occurrence around the world with asian's killing/eating endangered species

sharks
bears for gallbladders

they have no regard for animals and will hunt and kill anything they want, even when they’re protect and the rest of the world demands they stop ie Japan and their “scientific” whaling, or their killing of dolphins

destroying your own environment is one thing, don't come over to mine and do it here, i wish our government had more balls to send assholes like this back to where they came

Before 1994 when I was a kid, and when we were allowed to catch/keep sturgeon, I ate it a number of times. No fish tastes better tempura style than fresh sturgeon IMO, and they are a lot of fun to reel in.

I support the ban however, and haven't touched one in about 2 decades.

i'd go out on a limb and say any sturgeon over 2 feet is gonna taste gross just due to age and the abuse those things take

I saw a guy reel a sturgeon a month or so ago along the dyke in Richmond... A little dock-looking spot where people fish there all the time. There was a guy who spent 20 minutes reeling in this ~5-6 foot sturgeon and just let it back into the water. Man it was a beauty

here are a couple i got a couple years ago, ive been out guided sturgeon fishing about 5-6 times now, the second one in the water was 7'2"

the 7 footer probably took about 45 minutes to an hour to get to shore and get the picture, in terms of fight they have the occasional pull where they dive and you better be holding on, but a fresh healthy spring is a much bigger challenge
