24 hour prohibition

hey i was just wondering if all 24 hour prohibitions lead to 90 day license suspension in burnaby? or does it depend on the situation?
it is under section 215 (3) but did not have to breathe into anything. car has been impounded. i dont have any bad driving records other than that

just wondering because a friend of mine had a 12 hour prohibition before and ended up with the 90 day suspension under section 90.3

i dont know myself, but remember taht it was the cops who gave you the suspesion...which then basically ICBC gets a hold off and i assume it will depend on THEM if they want to give you a 90 day susp or not

My friend got a 24hr suspension before. Few weeks later, a letter came in suspending his license for 3 months

If you're a class 7 or have a bad driving record, a 215 suspension for alcohol or drugs could easily result in a further administrative suspension

This is the first time I've ever gotten a ticket and pulled over. Will it still be just as bad?
Edit: nevermind. Got it

But anyways, I wasn't pulled over for alcohol. The car simply smelt like weed and i honestly said I was high 4 hours ago. But it did not take place in my car

If you have your N or L, then you'll most likely face a further suspension. You'll get a letter in the mail.

How long do you think suspension will be?

dlo 07-29-2012 11:47 AM

3 months minimum

Yes, you are going to get a suspension. 1st penalty is 3 months, the next penalty is an additional 3 months, totaling 6 months.. It doesnt even matter if you get a 24h or not.. Even a ticket for running a stop sign will lead to a suspension.. That's how strict the rules are for Class 7N drivers.

One ticket for a Class 7N will not result in a suspension... Depends how serious it is and how many points.

For the OP - if your driving is even slightly impaired after consuming drugs, you'll be given a 24 hr.

Do you or do you not have your N? If you do, expect a suspension. When the suspension is up your N time will likely re-start and you will have to be squeaky clean for the following 24 months. One ticket, and expect another suspension. This is how it works, not from personal experience but from hearing from others who have gone through it. N drivers have a zero tolerance for being impaired. A 24 hour implies you were impaired so expect the ban hammer. You should have immediately requested a blood test which they are legally obligated to do. However, had you failed the penalty could have been much greater.

And just to point out the obvious, maybe think about spraying some febreze in your car and NEVER, EVER EVER admit to a police officer that you were smoking or drinking. The answer is always no. It is on them to prove you are high/drunk. They may act like your friend and be all nice but the minute you admit to something expect their attitude to change.
