2012 Kia Sorento Install Questions

Hi All,
Recently we purchased a 2012 Sorento and I would like to put my Avic Z110bt into it. I have a couple of questions that I was hoping to get some of our guru's to help me with:

- I would like to use the steering wheel mounted controls for volume and what not, is there a PAC interface (or something else) that I can install so I can still use them?

- To use the factory microphone with the Pioneer will i need to cut and solder the plug of the pioneer mic to the factory mic or is there an adapter on the market that I have been unable to locate?

- The Metra MFK-7340B-1 is the only kit that I could find online that takes a double din, any thoughts on it or if there is something better that you would recommend?

Thanks all.

There are two different types of steering wheel controls - The PAC Audio piece and the Axxess AWSC which I have been using lately with great results. Auto learning feature and works with canbus systems too.

I would strongly recommend NOT using the factory microphone with the Pioneer unit. The impedence may be different and may not work with the Pioneer's input. Use the Pioneer mic and run the wire down the A-pillar and you'll be good to go.

Metra kits are usually pretty decent and quite often your only option. Fitment can be a bit funky though so try not to get too frustrated.

Good luck!

For steering wheel controls I second Mike's opinion about the Axxess ASWC.

Installed it myself yesterday and it's a breeze. Just connect some wires together, and done. No need for programming or anything, at least on my car. Check out their website if it's compatible with your car!

Thanks guys, I appreciate your feedback. I will look into the Axxess and PAC.

We just did one in a 2012 Sportage today and it was pretty straight-forward. Its not Canbus either so just a PAC SWI-RC will work pretty easy.
