how to organize a bbq in the backyard? Wondering how you guys organize a bbq. What do you guys marinate? What do you usually get and buy? Thanks |
from past experience of organizing bbq events. 1. confirmed number of attendees 2. food - pork, chicken, steak, weiners, salad, seasoning, condaments, buns (i buy most of my food at either costco or asian specialty stores since some are pre-marinated) 3. drinks - lots of pop (or alcohol if u want) 4. supplies - cup/plates/utensils/seats/tables etc. (or ask ppl to bring their own if ur eco friendly) 5. games and activity (couple rounds of charades is always hilarious) |
wow how old are you? Anyhoo. I don't know if your guest are more CBC or asian. 1) smokies usually 2-3 per perosn 2) grilled fish balls on kabobs 3-4 per person 3) hot dogs 2 per person and burgers (1 per person) 4) pop should be easy 5) chicken wings, about 3-4 per person 6) steak, chicken thighs, pork etc. marinade as you see fit The good ratio is 1 spoon (metal soup spoon) + 2 spoon of sugar per pound of meat. Add whatever else you feel like eg// ginger, soya sauce, dark soy sauce etc. 7) honey is a must on brushing on final touches. |
Don't forget some mosquito repellent - be it spray, candles, those electronic perimeter units. Nothing worst fighting them off while trying to enjoy good food with friends. The best would be a gazebo tent with the netting. Food wise; just get a head count so you have an idea of how much food to prepare. You can't go wrong with hot dogs/smokies/burgers/steaks/potatoes/corn/shrimp etc. When we have bbq, half of us will bring the food, the other will bring the drinks. |
Go to Chinatown and just buy a bunch of meat for cheap, then bury them in the marinade of your choice. If you don't have time for that then just head over to Costco and buy everything there. They have marinated pork chops which are awesome and thick enough to cut into 2 or 3 smaller pork chops - or cut them up like crazy and stick them on kabob sticks. |
wow sum haters LOL, was just seekin for sum tips. Some people prob had sum bad experiences and could share what they forgot or did wrong... |
Have some dim sum instead Lololol |
Get the essential and easy to cook stuff first and then tell your friends to bring the rest. 1. Box of burger patties, Kraft Cheese and Wonder hamburger buns 2. Box of chicken thighs and wings from Costco 3. Couple big packages of European wieners/smokies Tell your buddies to bring the rest. Beer, wine, pop, chips, and other marinated meats. Done. You have a backyard BBQ. Don't forget a SoundDock for music. |
Make sure you have decent lighting for when it get's dark, everyones having a good time, you don't want the night to end because it's dark. |
