*sigh* More 5-day suspensions! Pack of Porsches BUSTED!

Pack of Porsches caught speeding on B.C. highway; cars impounded, drivers fined - News1130

WEST VANCOUVER, B.C. - A pack of Porsches was caught speeding on a highway north of Vancouver over the weekend and the drivers didn't get only tickets, they've lost their luxury wheels for a week.
West Vancouver Police say four Porsches were pulled over on the Sea to Sky Highway on Saturday by a single officer.
The officer had tracked the vehicles travelling up to 131 kilometres an hour in an 80-kilometre zone.
The Porsches have been impounded for a week and each driver was handed a ticket for $368.
Police say just a week earlier, the same officer issued warnings to members of a Porsche Club telling them the danger of speeding in the area.

News 1130 publishes pretty much anything that happens in the lower mainland. And especially if it involves S2S, impounding, and multiple vehicles.

These guys are fucktards. Whether they (or you) feel like they were "safe" at that speed is irrelevant. They knew the speed limit... there's no way at this point in time, with all the news coverage, that they couldn't know the penalties... and they did it anyway. They might as well have mooned the cop on the way past.

They're as stupid as it gets and they got what they deserved, not for speeding, but for being morons.

Ten bucks says at least one of them is moronic enough to get busted again for the same thing within a week of getting their cars back.

Lol... 131kph? Impounded? Ridiculous.

IMO, that should just be a nice fat speeding ticket. Think about it this way too... had the freeway not been a construction zone that would be under the 40kph limit for impound laws.

131kph is not fast. It's "quick" but not fast.

+1 going down I-5 120kph is traffic pace, so 131 isnt really that fast.

51 over the posted limit.

Apparently you're as stupid as they were - this was on the Sea to Sky, not the freeway. Don't both to comment if you can't even be bothered to read the article.

And again I'll point out, that's irrelevant. They knew the posted limit, they knew the consequences if they were caught... and they did it anyway.

If I tell you that beating yourself in the head with a hammer will give you brain damage, and you go ahead and do it anyway... is it my fault or yours when your brains fall out on the floor?

131kmh in a porsche on the sea to sky is nothing. but 131kmh in a tercel, echo or minivan is extremely dangerous.

51 km/h over man. 131 isn't exactly fast but when you are going 51 over the limit, you are gonna get fucked. Its hardly unfair to the drivers. Laws are laws wether you like them or not "unfortunately" sometimes.

it was in the province and national post etc

the clincher is the officer who gave them the tickets/etc had just recently warned the porsche club

Porsches impounded after drivers caught speeding in West Vancouver

As much as I hate to agree I do. I wish other laws would get enforced more strictly this way as well. Impeding traffic is my biggest pet peeve.....its not that difficult to be a courteous driver in many different ways. The I can stop anywhere I please with my hazards on mindframe frustrates me as much as 30-40km/h drivers do....making drivers unnecessarily change lanes in a normal 50, 60 speed zone.

Depending on the road and/or conditions.

My wife was cruising around 125-130 on the John Hart our last trip up north. Clear weather, minimal traffic, it was great. She'd be the first person to slow to a crawl if something was out of her comfort zone. Fuck, I barely got her to break 30km/h on the ATV last weekend.

I dunno, maybe I could see how people who predominately drive beaters could think that 130km/h is a brick shitting experience.

I hope they keep doing this, because eventually one of the people is going to be rich (and motivated) enough to do something about it with lawyers and whatnot.

It's all really quite silly. I mean, why does the police/government even allow vehicles to be sold that can exceed 110km/h? Why not permanently solve the problem that way?

Yah they're the posted limits, which are redonkulously low... yah they were speeding and they knowingly were and they got caught, but it's ina pretty predatory manner especially since those limits are well below what a 1985 Camry is capable of on that highway -- safely -- let alone a Porsche and it's a flipping highway. 131km/h is a little bit more than EVERY SINGLE CAR drives on Hwy 91 each morning IN TRAFFIC. I know, because I drive 120 and I never pass anyone. NEVER. Except the odd east indian granny in a Caravan. It's the % equivalent of driving 80 in a 50 zone... which I'm pretty sure most cars are doing on Steveston Hwy or King George Highway or any number of roads at any given time of the day.

What I'm curious about is whether the people who are calling the P-car drivers idiots have ever sped in their life hmmmmmmmmmm? Maybe even 40 over??? Never? Bullshit.

I'm certainly not calling the drivers idiots. The laws are excessive, but lots are. Should I be able to walk down the street drinking a beer if I'm not belligerent, loud, or drunk, with no intention of littering? I sure fucking think so, but since I live in place where that is illegal, if I choose to ignore it, and I get caught, its my fault.

This 40 over bullshit is getting retarded. The Government seizing private property without a trial? That sounds mighty wrong to me.

Have you ever failed someone who came on to RS and made a thread bitching about receiving a speeding ticket?

and perhaps take it a step further and made a post about how they were speeding and deserved the ticket?

pretty confident almost everyone in here bitching about this law has

sure many of us speed have sped etc but most of them don't bitch about getting penalized for breaking the law
