they're not gonna do it. they're gonna wait for the southern hemisphere to harvest and see how it is (that's 1 year from now). also the southern hemisphere has produced a shit load of sugar this year, so that'll ease the situation. as well as the fact that US legislation is slow and it'll take em a whole year to sort this out anyway. oh yeah and something about how the ethanol producers have enough credit from last year to forward it to this year to offset production, they produced more than enough last year, to carry over some this year. |
couldnt care less about anyone elses food supply, US needs to do what ever it takes to make their gas prices as low as possible, so that I may fill up 5 jerry cans every month. |

Not going to happen Oil is too important right now to give up. Besdie US can always import corn from other countries. |
HAHAAHA... Ethanol from Corn is a first generation biofuel, it has the shittiest return of energy invested. US heavily subsidizes enthal production from corn too, which is stupid. There are new species of plants to harvest oil from. I'm suprised they haven't moved on to new sources already. |
They will never stop subsidizing unless the corn farmers have other buyers lined up to buy higher than what the fuel companies / US gov is paying.. the corn farmers represent the swing stages like Iowa. Besides high food prices means that US contribution to world food program will be worth more for the same amount.. even though they are shipping the same amount of food. So expect 10-25% increase in food prices like meat! It is nothing about technology but politics and money. Quote:
