Anyone know how to service an Escort Passport 9500ix?
 

My 9500ix decided to take a dump.

The speaker doesn't function any more, once in a blue moon I'll hear it here and there but once the device stays on, the speaker doesn't function.

And I already tried scrolling through the menu options.

Doing a quick google search, people mention about a fuse blowing out on the smart cord plug...

If anyone knows how to service the 9500ix let me know! Thanks in advance.

Warranty?

Out of warranty :(

Wow, the LED's on my 9500ix started to go. Got to the point I couldn't read the displayed info. Everything else still works flawlessly. Anyhow, I purchased the 9500ix from Visions. Great price at the time. Anyway, I purchased an additional three year warranty from Visions. I thought I had a couple of months left, so I took it in to get it repaired under warranty. The salesguy at Visions tells me I actually have a 4 year warranty and that I have over a year left still. I figured I should still go ahead and get it fixed while it is still under warranty. Long story short, I dropped off the 9500ix the first week of July. It's now mid August and it's still not fixed.

I'm on a two week trip to the US and I need a radar detector. I bought a cheap Whistler radar detector from Costco while the 9500ix was beeing fixed. Thought I would get it fixed before the trip. WRONG! Not impressed with Visions at all.

Anyway, if your 9500ix needs fixing, send it to the manufacturer. In case it is an issue with the Smart Cord (I highly doubt it), try someone else's cord before you send it in. Support at Escort Radar is very good. Give them a call toll free - 1-800-964-3138

Right now I'm using a ghetto setup, attaching a portable mini speaker to the 9500ix, so it will do for now...
