bonfires

yes, i know theres a ban on them.

me and my friends are curious though as to where we could have one without getting in trouble?

so far were thinking stave lake on the flats, or on a remote section off of barnett highway where we used to have them a few years ago.

does anyone know any places that are safe to have them? prefferably near water so we can easily put it out.

(and when i say "bonfire" i dont mean a 6ft high fire...i mean throwing a wooden pallet on a fire and just having a small lil camp fire type thing going)

is there more info on this ban? I always have a small backyard fire going at home for cooking.

OP answered his own question in his post.

Culverin brought up another separate good one. He is the reason this thread wasn't closed.

no, i actually didnt answer my own question...

i gave 2 examples of where we were thinking of having them. my question is if anyone knows any other places thats safe to have them.

the flats at stave are probably your best bet.

i hate people who burn pallets cause it leaves nails all over the trails, burn the pallets way off the road/fsr please.

edit:

better yet, just get a chainsaw and a salvage permit.

In which part of the first two sentences did you not answer your own question? There's a ban. There's no place you can do it without getting into trouble. There are places that you may be able to do it without being caught, but that's a very very different thing.

Also, please keep in mind that fires have been banned for a reason; it's the fucking dry season right now. You remember the fires about 7 years ago? The ones that tore through the interior and destroyed dozens if not hundreds of homes? They were started by a single man throwing a single cigarette out the window of his truck as he was driving down the highway.

A bonfire is much bigger. Even if it is "just a pallet".

thanks tips!

okay, if it makes you sleep better at night, where can we have one without being caught?

again, im well aware of it being the dry season, i also always have them near water just incase it gets out of hand and we need to put it out, and yes, i do keep a fire extinguisher with me. so please stop getting your undies in a twist here...im well aware of the dangers and possible outcomes, and im also safe about what i do, i dont need someone to lecture me about what to do and what not to do.

so ill ask again, does anyone know a place where we can safely have a fire without being caught?

your best bet is your backyard

Go to costco and pick up a portable propane bonfire. They're $100 and awesome.

iona beach? was driving by one time and one the places just off to the side of the road by the water seemed like a decent place couple ppl to chill with a bon fire, have a beer and sing kumbaya. not sure what the chances of being caught are though..

iona has a ton of cops in the area. trust me i know ;)

also, iona has a private wood salvage yard which could be set ablaze by a nearby fire.

like i said, stave is probably you're best bet. you might run into some rednecks out there that had the same idea as you did. :fullofwin:

The Stave flats are flooded right now, There's a great spot under the lions gate bridge I always go to ;)

Hey guys, I know there's a ban on armed robbery but does anyone know where I can do it without getting in trouble? Me and my friends are thinking about a 7/11 but we might just go all out and hit up a Costco. . . Please advise!
