Wheel balance, is this right? So I just checked my wheel balance on all four tires. Front driver side has a long strip, 5/6 squares. Front passenger side has 1/4 ounce. Driver side back has 1/4 ounce. Passenger side has 5/6 squares. The weights are criss-crossed? |
Every wheel is different and there's no "right way" just as long a they're balanced properly |
It varies from wheel to wheel. Some don't need weights, and some may even have 4 to 6 ounces to zero it out. The only way to check if it's balanced properly is by throwing it on a wheel balancer. |
balancing wheels with have 2 areas where weights are attached. if its an oem style, the weights will be at the outer edges of the wheel. if its aftermarket with a dish, the weights will be at the inner edge, and the area just behind the spokes so that they dont show on the outside face of the wheel. the weights arent suppose to match, the point is to balance the wheel. sometimes, with deep dish wheels, the weight behind spokes/face of the wheel will be greater. just being physics. |
