Thinking of changing my Factory Deck to a new and updated one

Hi All,

I recently decided to keep my car instead of changing for a new one, I have a 2003 fx 35 and was planning to change the media unit to a touch screen deck.

I just have a few questions , if anyone can help me

would any double din deck work with my car?
would i need to change the bezel?
and would my steering wheel controls and cd changer still work with a new deck?

here is a picture of how my console looks like.

As you can see i don't know that much or even anything about audio for my car.

if you can help me that would be great!

Thats a very tough car to do. The screen, HVAC controls and radio are all located on the same circuit board. There is no kit for this car! Audio isnt too bad its just getting a new deck in there that is painful. There are ways to do it as long as you're willing to spend some coin.

I've done many of those and its lots of custom work. You will loose the clock and the factory screen gets relocated to where it was with a new trim made up only half the screen is visible at that point but only half of it needs to be. Done right it works and looks good.
Maybe Cman will see this and post up some pics.

how much do you think it will cost to do?

Basically will look more or less exactly like this when done.

Pricing depends on the headunit you pick. Does yours also have the bose system?

Yes it does, when you had it done does your steering wheel controls and cd changer works?
and just wondering with your head unit how much did it cost.

just thinking is it worth or should i just leave it

Steering wheel controls no problem. Changer? Why would you need a changer when the new deck will do Ipod or USB? Double din decks are usually $400 and up. Custom work can be quoted via PM or you can visit a sponso'r shop.
