Head gasket or bad gas alright guys brief info my integra has been sitting for a year. fuel is around 10 months old, car recieved a new fully rebuilt head two years ago maybe has 5000km on it changed to head gasket at the time. Car starts with no issues, the gas smelled bad so i filled it up with fresh stuff, car started to smoke lightly not sweet smelling. The car then stops smoking does not over heat oil is not discoloured as well as the coolant and not using any. wondering if anyone has any ideas? As well does anyone know where i can find a liquid head gasket kit that you test on the rad? |
What makes you think its a blown head gasket? Just test the compression on each cylinder, and voila. If within similar values, then all good. |
the constant white smoke |
excessive amounts fuel stabilizer can cause smoking at times, however do either a leak down or compression test first. that will indicate where your problem is originating from likely. |
Could also be moisture in the cylinders and exhaust, dry valve seals, etc. How much fuel was in the tank while it was stored? How long did it smoke for? Once the smoke went away, did it smoke again when it was started cold? After sitting for a year, it would've been a better idea to drain the tank and refill w/ fresh gas. I'd also change the oil/filter and fuel filter. |
ya ill do a compression test does anyone know where I can buy a block tester or combustion leak tester, The one that the liquid starts blue and turns yellow if it detects combustion in your coolant? |
After it quit smoking did you let it cool completely and repeat the whole startup process checking for smoke? If you did and theres no smoke I highly doubt you have a bad head gasket it was most likely shit just burning off. |
The car does stop smoking but then it would start again ever so slightly, IM sure its just a combination of old fuel in the tank, fuel additive and from sitting. It more or less needs a good drive and then well see what happens after that. |
try some ethanol get the water out or perhaps Seafoam and clean out the system.... even better i would remove the fuel tank get everything out and start over also do a compression check when smoking did you drive it? maybe a spin around the culdesack or block will flush it out. also check if oil is milky, or has water in it do that by removing the oil completley |
